Ñuble Region
The Ñuble Region ( es, Región de Ñuble), officially the Region of Ñuble ( es, Región de Ñuble), is — since 5 September 2018 – one of Chile's sixteen regions. It spans an area of , making it the smallest region in Chile in terms of area, and is administratively constituted by 21 communes. It has a population of 480,609 inhabitants. Its capital is the city of Chillán. According to a 2021 study Ñuble Region is one of the three Chilean regions that are most prone to suffer nepotism and elite capture. History This region has played a distinguished role in the history and culture of Chile. Regions Of Chile
Chile is divided into 16 regions (in Spanish language, Spanish, ''regiones''; singular ''región''), which are the country's first-level administrative division. The territory of Chile has been populated since at least 3000 BC. By the 16th century, Spanish conquistadors began to colonize the region of present-day Chile, and the territory was a colony between 1540 and 1818, when it gained independence from Spain. Portezuelo, Chile
Portezuelo () is a Chilean town and commune located in the Itata Province, Ñuble Region. Demographics According to the 2002 census of the National Statistics Institute, Portezuelo spans an area of and has 5,470 inhabitants (2,825 men and 2,645 women). Of these, 1,750 (32%) lived in urban areas and 3,720 (68%) in rural areas. The population fell by 8.4% (500 persons) between the 1992 and 2002 censuses. Ninhue
Ninhue () is a Chilean commune and town in the Itata Province, Ñuble Region. Demographics According to the 2002 census of the National Statistics Institute, Ninhue spans an area of and has 5,738 inhabitants (2,920 men and 2,818 women). Of these, 1,433 (25%) lived in urban areas and 4,305 (75%) in rural areas. The population fell by 10.6% (679 persons) between the 1992 and 2002 censuses. Coelemu is a Chilean commune and city in Itata Province, Ñuble Region. According to the 2002 census, the commune population was 16,082 and has an area of . Demographics According to the 2002 census of the National Statistics Institute, Coelemu spans an area of and has 16,082 inhabitants (8,086 men and 7,996 women). Quirihue () is a Chilean city in Quirihue, Itata Province, Ñuble Region. It is located about 72 kilometers northwest of Chillán and 410 km southwest of Santiago. Michelle Bachelet
Verónica Michelle Bachelet Jeria (; born 29 September 1951) is a Chilean politician who served as United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights from 2018 to 2022. Violeta Parra
Violeta del Carmen Parra Sandoval (; 4 October 1917 – 5 February 1967) was a Chilean composer, singer-songwriter, folklorist, ethnomusicologist and visual artist. She pioneered the Nueva Canción Chilena (The Chilean New Song), a renewal and a reinvention of Chilean folk music that would extend its sphere of influence outside Chile. Claudio Arrau León (; February 6, 1903June 9, 1991) was a Chilean pianist known for his interpretations of a vast repertoire spanning the baroque to 20th-century composers, especially Bach, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, Schumann, Liszt and Brahms. He is widely considered one of the greatest pianists of the twentieth century.
