Éric Beugnot
Éric Beugnot (born March 22, 1955) is a French former professional basketball player. Standing at 2.00 m (6' 6 ") tall, Beugnot played at the shooting guard and small forward positions. Professional career During his pro career, Beugnot played with the French clubs Le Mans, AS Monaco, ASVEL, and CRO Lyon. He won 3 French League championships, in the years 1978, 1979, and 1982. National team career Beugnot was a member of the senior French national basketball team. With France, he played in 212 games, from 1975 to 1987, scoring a total of 2,493 points. He played at the 1984 Summer Olympic Games. He also played at the 1986 FIBA World Championship, at the 1977 EuroBasket, the 1979 EuroBasket, the 1981 EuroBasket, the 1983 EuroBasket, and the 1987 EuroBasket. Cap (sports)
In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. An early illustration of the first international football match between Scotland and England in 1872 shows the Scottish players wearing cowls, and the English wearing a variety of school caps. FIBA Europe is the administrative body for basketball in Europe, within the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), which includes all 50 national European basketball federations. Jean-Paul Beugnot
Jean-Paul Beugnot (25 June 1931 – 7 February 2001) was a French professional basketball player and coach. Standing at 2.07 m (6' 9 ") tall, Beugnot played at the power forward and center positions. He was named one of FIBA's 50 Greatest Players, in 1991. He was inducted into the French Basketball Hall of Fame in 2004. He was awarded the Glory of Sport in 2013. Club career Playing career During his playing career, Beugnot played with the French club Étoile Charleville-Mézières (1955–1967). With Étoile Charleville-Mézières, he won two French League championships (1958 and 1960), and two French Cups (1958 and 1959). He was also the Best Scorer of the French League's 1962–63 season. Paris Basket Racing, or PBR, was a French professional basketball club from Paris. It was founded in 1922, as the basketball section of the multi-sports club Racing Club de Paris. The team took the name "Paris Basket Racing" in 2000. The 1987 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 1987, was the 25th FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship, held by FIBA Europe. It was held in Greece between 3 and 14 June 1987. Twelve national teams entered the event under the auspices of FIBA Europe, the sport's regional governing body.
