Çukurova Sanayi (men's Basketball)
Çukurova Sanayi (''English: Çukurova Industry'') was a professional basketball club that was based in Tarsus, Mersin, Turkey. History Çukurova Sanayi was founded in 1978 as Tarsus Schweppes Gençlik ve Spor Kulübü. At the end of the 1991-92 season Çukurova Sanayi has withdrawn from the league due to financial reasons. During playing in Basketball Super League, Çukurova Sanayi lost the final matches they played with Eczacıbaşı for two seasons. Çukurova Sanayi won Turkish Basketball Presidential Cup by defeating Eczacıbaşı, whom they had been defeated twice in the Basketball Super League finals, in 1989 Turkish Basketball Presidential Cup final. Basketball Super League
Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. A field goal is worth two points, unless made from behind the three-point line, when it is worth three. After a foul, timed play stops and the player fouled or designated to shoot a technical foul is given one, two or three one-point free throws. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins, but if regulation play expires with the score tied, an additional period of play (overtime) is mandated. Erman Kunter
Erman Kunter (born 8 October 1956) is a Turkish-French former professional basketball player and coach. He most recently served as head coach of Galatasaray, of the Turkish Basketball Super League (BSL). He is well-known for being the player that scored the most points ever in a single-game of any top-tier level professional basketball league in the world, with 153 points scored in a Turkish Super League game in 1988. Professional playing career During his pro club career, Kunter played with İTÜ, Beşiktaş, Eczacıbaşı, Yenişehir Meysu, Fenerbahçe, and Çukurova Sanayi. As a Fenerbahçe player, he scored 153 points (81 points in the first half), of his team's 175 total points, in a Turkish League game against Hilalspor, on 12 March, 1988. Richard Lee Coffey (born September 2, 1965) is an American former professional basketball player who had a brief stint with the NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves. Prior to his college basketball career he was a member of the US Army's 82nd Airborne Division Paratrooper. Coffey, a 6'6" and 212 lb forward born in Aurora, North Carolina and who played collegiately for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers, averaged 1.3 points and 1.5 rebounds in 52 games for the Timberwolves during the 1990–91 NBA season. Eugene McDowell
Eugene McDowell (December 31, 1963 – August 24, 1995) was an American professional basketball player. A strong big man who primarily played as a center, he was one of the top prospects in the 1981 high school class. He was a 4-year starter playing college basketball for the Florida Gators, and he was a 3rd-round pick in the 1985 NBA Draft; however, he never played in the NBA and he had a 7-year career playing professional basketball in Europe (Italy, Spain and Turkey) and in the CBA. He died in 1995 of an enlarged heart. He was inducted in the SEC Hall of Fame in 2009.
