Ã…sa Larsson Blind
Åsa Larsson Blind (born 29 August 1980) is a Swedish-Sámi politician who as of March 2021 serves as vice president of the Saami Council. Political life She grew up in a Sámi family that cares for reindeer. She has studied at the University of Umeå and holds a master's degree in human resource management. Larsson Blind joined the Saami Council in 2008 as a representative of (SSR, the National Union of the Swedish Sámi People). In 2011, she was elected vice president of the council and in February 2017 was elected president. Her term as president ended in February 2021 and she was again elected vice president. In her time with the Saami Council, Larsson Blind also served from 2011 to 2015, on the board of the Arctic Council Indigenous Peoples Secretariat. In 2019, she became the first woman elected to lead the SSR. Åsa Larsson (born 28 June 1966) is a Swedish crime-fiction writer. Although born in Uppsala, she was raised in Kiruna in the far north. Prior to becoming a full-time writer, Larsson was a tax lawyer, a profession she shares with the heroine of her novels, Rebecka Martinsson. Her first Rebecka Martinsson novel, ''Solstorm'', was awarded the Swedish Crime Writers' Association prize for best first novel. It was published in the UK (under the title ''The Savage Altar'') and was shortlisted for the Duncan Lawrie International Dagger. Her second Rebecka Martinsson novel, ''Det blod som spillts'', won the Best Swedish Crime Novel Award. Norrbotten (), known in English as North Bothnia, is a Swedish province (''landskap'') in northernmost Sweden. It borders south to Västerbotten, west to Swedish Lapland, and east to Finland. Administration The traditional provinces of Sweden serve no administrative or political purposes, but are historical and cultural entities. In this case, however, the county is older than the province. When the new national border to the Russian Grand Duchy of Finland formed, the province of Västerbotten split in two, and formed the municipalities of Kolari, Muonio, Pello, Tornio, and Ylitornio.
