Águilas Blancas (), also known as Politécnico when representing the entirety of National Polytechnic Institute, founded as Águilas Blancas de la ESCA- ESIQIE, is a Mexican college football team based in the Casco de Santo Tomas neighborhood of Mexico City, Mexico. ''Águilas Blancas'' participate in the Green Conference as part of the National Student Organization of American Football (ONEFA). It is one of the most successful college football teams in Mexico having won five national championships throughout their history. They maintain a fierce rivalry with teams from the National Autonomous University of Mexico particularly with its Coyoacán based team from Ciudad Universitaria, Pumas Dorados de la UNAM. Estadio Wilfrido Massieu
Estadio Wilfrido Massieu is an outdoor stadium located north of Mexico City, within the "Adolfo Lopez Mateos" campus of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN). It was built in 1959 and has a capacity of 15,000 spectators. The stadium is the home field of the IPN's college football teams: the Águilas Blancas and Burros Blancos . The stadium was primarily used for American football until 2000, when it was vetoed from American football events by damages in its structure. However, in 2015 it was announced that the stadium will again host American football matches. Currently, the stadium is also used by the Mayas of the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional. Ciudad Universitaria (University City), Mexico, is the main campus of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), located in Coyoacán borough in the southern part of Mexico City. Designed by architects Mario Pani and Enrique del Moral, it encloses the Olympic Stadium, about 40 faculties and institutes, the Cultural Center, an ecological reserve, the Central Library, and a few museums. Aztecas UDLAP is the name of the sports teams that represent the Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP). American football History In 1947 the team began its life as the American football squad of Mexico City College with the nickname ''los Aztecas''. That same year the squad was admitted into the most important American football conference in Mexico, ''Liga Mayor''. The Borregos Salvajes Monterrey (English: ''Monterrey Wild Rams'') team represents the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (variously Tec de Monterrey or ITESM) in the sport of American football. Águilas () is a municipality and seaport of southeastern Spain, in the province of Murcia. The Borregos Salvajes CEM (English: ''CEM Wild Rams''), or simply Borregos CEM, was an American football team representing the State of Mexico campus of the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM). The Borregos Salvajes competed in the ONEFA and later in the Conferencia Premier CONADEIP. The National Student Organization of American Football ( or ''ONEFA'') is the major college football league in Mexico. American football has been played in Mexico since the early 1920s in different colleges and universities, mainly in Mexico City. In 1928 the first professional championship was played, organized by Jorge Braniff. From the 1920s to the 1970s more universities and colleges joined the championship, and four categories, called ''fuerzas'' were created. The First ''Fuerza'' became the National League in 1970, and in 1978 it was reorganized under the name ONEFA. In 2010 a breakaway league, CONADEIP, was formed by the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education system, UDLAP and additional private universities. American Football
American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. The offense, the team with possession of the oval-shaped football, attempts to advance down the field by running with the ball or passing it, while the defense, the team without possession of the ball, aims to stop the offense's advance and to take control of the ball for themselves.
