''¡Chutzpah!'' is the eighth studio album by The Wildhearts. Recorded in Denmark with producer Jacob Hansen, it was released in Europe and the US on 31 August 2009. Unlike the band's previous releases, where the songs were almost always performed in E tuning, the guitars and bass on the album are tuned to C. It is also rare among the band's releases in that it contains a song, "The Only One", which was neither written nor sung by frontman Ginger, but instead by bassist Scott Sorry. The Wildhearts
The Wildhearts are an English rock band, formed in 1989 in Newcastle upon Tyne. The band's sound is a mixture of hard rock and melodic pop music, often described in the music press as combining influences as diverse as the Beatles and 1980s-era Metallica. The Wildhearts achieved several top 20 singles and two top 10 albums in Britain, though they also faced difficulties with record companies and many internal problems often relating to drugs and depression. Much of the band's early career was affected by bitter feuds with their record company, East West. Throughout the band's history, members have regularly been replaced, with the only constant member being the band's founder, singer and guitarist Ginger. Scott Sorry (born Gerard Scott; October 30, 1978 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American singer songwriter. Prior to being a solo artist Scott played with The Wildhearts, Sorry and the Sinatras, Amen and briefly Brides of Destruction. Biography Amen (2003–2005) After playing in a variety of punk bands in Philadelphia, Scott joined US punk rockers Amen on their 2003 Join Or Die tour, playing with the band until late 2005 where he eventually quit the group. Brides of Destruction (2005) Following the departure of founder Nikki Sixx, Sorry was announced as the new bassist for hard rock supergroup Brides of Destruction along with The Wildhearts singer, and future bandmate, Ginger who departed the group soon after they began writing new material. They released the album Runaway Brides, produced by Andy Johns, in Europe on September 13 and on September 27 in the US. ''Rock Sound'' is a British magazine that covers rock music. The magazine aims at being more "underground" and less commercial, while also giving coverage to better-known acts. It generally focuses on pop punk, post-hardcore, metalcore, punk, emo, hardcore, heavy metal and extreme metal genres of rock music, rarely covering indie rock music at all. Guitar tunings are the assignment of pitches to the open strings of guitars, including acoustic guitars, electric guitars, and classical guitars. Tunings are described by the particular pitches that are made by notes in Western music. By convention, the notes are ordered and arranged from the lowest-pitched string (i.e., the deepest bass-sounding note) to the highest-pitched string (i.e., the highest sounding note), or the thickest string to thinnest, or the lowest frequency to the highest. C Tuning (guitar)
C tuning is a type of guitar tuning. The strings of the guitar are tuned two whole steps lower than standard tuning. The resulting notes can be described most commonly as C-F-A♯-D♯-G-C or C-F-Bâ™-Eâ™-G-C. This is not to be confused with C tuning, which is one and one half steps lower than standard tuning. The tuning is commonly used by metal and hard rock artists to achieve a heavier, deeper sound. Slackening regular strings on a regular guitar to a lower pitch makes bending easier. Depending on personal playing style, some guitarists find this desirable, while others switch to heavier-gauge strings to avoid unintentional bending and to play chords in tune more easily. He began his professional career as a guitarist in The Quireboys, but is best known as the founder and leader of The Wildhearts.
