Vocal Trance
Vocal trance is a subgenre of trance music that focuses on vocals and melodies. The subgenre came into existence in the early 1990s, when trance was still developing. Although many early trance records used vocal samples mixed in with the beats, the earliest examples of the style appeared in 1992–93. Characteristics A typical track consists of three elements, though later tracks labeled ''vocal trance'' may not include all of them. A track begins with an intro of progressive beats. The melodic part starts incrementally, combining vocals, usually female, a melodic sound (for the most part high pitched and fast), and a bass pattern. Towards the end of the track, the melody fades out and the intro rhythm returns, usually with some minor changes. Vocal trance producers frequently make use of session musicians, particularly female singers, for vocals on their tracks. Trance is a genre of electronic dance music that emerged from the British new-age music scene and the early 1990s German techno and hardcore scenes. Trance music is characterized by a tempo generally lying between 135–150 beats per minute (BPM), repeating melodic phrases and a musical form that distinctly builds tension and elements throughout a track often culminating in 1 to 2 "peaks" or "drops". Although trance is a genre of its own, it liberally incorporates influences from other musical styles such as techno, house, pop, chill-out, classical music, tech house, ambient and film music. Rap Music
Rapping (also rhyming, spitting, emceeing or MCing) is a musical form of vocal delivery that incorporates "rhyme, rhythmic speech, and street vernacular". It is performed or chanted, usually over a backing beat or musical accompaniment. The components of rap include "content" (what is being said), "flow" (rhythm, rhyme), and "delivery" ( cadence, tone). Rap differs from spoken-word poetry in that it is usually performed off-time to musical accompaniment. Rap is a primary ingredient of hip hop music commonly associated with that genre; however, the origins of rap predate hip-hop culture by many years. Precursors to modern rap include the West African griot tradition, Cockney rhyming slang, certain vocal styles of blues, jazz, 1960s African-American poetry and ''Sprechgesang''. Tijs Michiel Verwest (; born 17 January 1969), known professionally as Tiësto ( ), is a Dutch DJ and music producer from Breda. He was voted "the Greatest DJ of All Time" by '' Mix'' magazine in a 2010/2011 poll amongst fans. In 2013, he was voted by '' DJ Mag'' readers as the "best DJ of the last 20 years". He is also regarded as the "Godfather of EDM" by many sources. SES Astra
SES Astra SA was a corporate subsidiary of SES, based in Betzdorf, in eastern Luxembourg, that maintained and operated the Astra series of geostationary communication satellites between 2001 and 2011. Formed in 1985 as Société Européenne des Satellites ( SES), it was Europe's first private satellite operator. Clubland TV is a British free-to-air Dance music channel. It is based from the Clubland compilation albums. Clubland TV airs various sub-genres of dance/EDM from the 90's to the late 2010s, such as electronica, techno, trance, eurodance, house, garage & dance-pop. History The channel launched on 28 January 2008. As of March 2008, the channel had five times the viewing ratings than its main competition MTV Dance. As of July 2019, the channel still dominates the ratings over its main rival MTV Dance (now Club MTV) that was closed on 20 July 2020, so Clubland remains the only UK-based EDM broadcasting music TV channel. Flaunt (TV Channel)
Flaunt was a British electronic dance music TV channel owned and operated by the CSC Media Group. It played music videos from the dance, techno, trance, disco, eurodance, house & upbeat pop genres 24/7. History Early History (2003-2004) In March 2003, British Sky Broadcasting announced they would enter the music television market and launch three themed channels - Flaunt, Scuzz, and The Amp. Flaunt would launch with its sister networks on April 17, 2003. For its launch, Flaunt focused on the pop and dance genres, with a female-oriented appeal for the first year of its existence, with a pink logo and a gray/white graphic scheme. Club MTV, formerly MTV Dance, is a European pay television music channel from Paramount Networks EMEAA that was separated from the UK channel on 27 May 2014. It broadcasts electronica, dance and r'n'b music programming. The channel is widely available throughout Europe. History The channel was launched as MTV Dance on 27 May 2014 On 2 August 2015, it was removed from Sky Italia. On 1 October 2017, MTV Dance ceased broadcasting in Benelux.
