University colleges in Denmark are called ''professionshøjskoler'' (literal translation: ''professional college''). Danish university colleges offer profession specific tertiary education, also known as medium higher education (MVU) and diploma courses, but do not offer university education at postgraduate level. University College Of Northern Denmark
University College of Northern Denmark ( da, Professionshøjskolen UCN) were formed under the Danish act on university colleges for higher education, which was adopted by the Danish parliament in 2007. Today, the sector is composed of six university colleges. Formally, UCN has existed since 3 July, 2007 and is a merger between a number of educational institutions. For the first year of its existence, UCN comprised the former CVU Nordjylland (Hjørring Teacher College, Aalborg Teacher College, the College of Social Pedagogy and the Skipper Clement college) and Sundheds CVU Nordjylland (the Aalborg School of Nursing and Radiography, Vendsyssel School of Nursing, the Denmark School of Midwifery in Aalborg as well as the School of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy). VIA University College is a university college ( da, professionshøjskole) organisation in Central Denmark Region, Denmark, established in January 2008. It is present in the region with a total of eight campuses. History The university colleges in Denmark were established as a result of a series of mergers of smaller educational centres in 2007. VIA is one of those university colleges. From January 2008, all medium higher education in the Central Region previously under CVU (Center for Higher Education), became organized as one unit under VIA. University College Lillebaelt (Danish: UCL Erhvervsakademi og Professionshøjskole) is one of the eight regional organizations of different study sites in Denmark ( da, professionshøjskoler) offering Bachelor courses of all kinds in the southwest part of Denmark (Funen and Jutland). UCL Erhvervsakademi og Professionshøjskole is the second-largest university college as known as university of applied sciences in Denmark. The Metropolitan University College ( da, Professionshøjskolen Metropol), also referred to as Metropolitan UC or MUC, is a university college offering a range of bachelor's degree and academy profession degree programmes in Copenhagen, Denmark.
