UltrAslan
ultrAslan is a football firm associated with Galatasaray S.K. (football), Galatasaray S.K. The firm was founded on 20 January 2001, after various smaller groups of fans decided that, Galatasaray, which could be seen as a European top club after their success in the 1999–2000 UEFA Cup and 2000 UEFA Super Cup, needed a large, organised fan group. This led to the creation of ultrAslan under the leadership of Alpaslan Dikmen, the main coordinator until his accidental death on 27 September 2008. The name of the organisation is a portmanteau word combining the concepts of "Ultras" and "Aslan" (the lion). ultrAslan are renowned for their creative choreography and use of flares. Galatasaray Spor Kulübü (, ''Galatasaray Sports Club'') is a Turkish sports club based on the European side of the city of Istanbul in Turkey. Çarşı (supporter Group)
Beşiktaş Çarşı Grubu (referred to simply as Çarşı) is the best known supporter group of BJK (Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club, notably including the Beşiktaş football club). At their home ground in Vodafone Park, Çarşı locate themselves on the curva of Kapalı (''Covered Stand'') and are known for their social and political commentary, choreography, and genuine manner of chanting. There are many catch-phrases of the group, "Çarşı, her şeye karşı!" (English: ''Çarşı is against everything!"'') being probably the most famous one. In May 2008, Çarşı disbanded itself unexpectedly. Mecidiyeköy
Mecidiyeköy is a heavily built-up residential and business neighbourhood in the Şişli district of Istanbul, Turkey squeezed in between the Fulya, Kuştepe, Gültepe, Esentepe, and Gülbahar neighbourhoods. In 2021 its estimated population was 23,760. Mecideiyeköy means "Mecid's Village" in Turkish, a name it acquired because it was during the reign of the Ottoman sultan Abdülmecid I that it started to be settled. Busy Halaskargazi Street runs through Şişli to Mecidiyeköy where it intersects with the D100 motorway. The Şişli-Mecidiyeköy Metro stop on the M2 line stops near this chaotic intersection, connecting the area with Taksim and Yenikapı. Ultras
Ultras are a type of association football fans who are renowned for their fanatical support. The term originated in Italy, but is used worldwide to describe predominantly organised fans of association football teams. The behavioural tendency of ultras groups includes their use of flares (primarily in tifo choreography), vocal support in large groups and the displaying of banners at football stadiums, all of which are designed to create an atmosphere which encourages their own team and intimidates the opposing players and their supporters. The frequent use of elaborate displays in stadiums is also common. The actions of ultras groups are occasionally extreme and they may be influenced by racism and political ideologies, including avowedly nationalist and anti-semitic ones. 1999–2000 UEFA Cup
The 1999–2000 UEFA Cup season was the 29th edition of the UEFA Cup competition. The final took place at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen and was won by Galatasaray, who defeated Arsenal in the final. The game was scoreless through the first ninety minutes and stayed that way through thirty minutes of extra time. The match went on to penalty kicks in which Gheorghe Popescu scored the winning goal to win the cup. Galatasaray won the cup without losing a single game. 2000 UEFA Super Cup
The 2000 UEFA Super Cup was a football match played on 25 August 2000 between Real Madrid of Spain and Galatasaray of Turkey. Real Madrid qualified by beating Valencia in the 2000 UEFA Champions League Final, while Galatasaray had made it to the Super Cup after beating Arsenal in the 2000 UEFA Cup Final. Galatasaray won the match 2–1, both goals scored by Mário Jardel, the latter a golden goal. This was the first Super Cup contested by the winners of the UEFA Cup (now the UEFA Europa League).
