Townsville Blackhawks
The Townsville & Districts Blackhawks are an Australian semi-professional rugby league football club based in Townsville, Queensland. They compete in Queensland's top rugby league competition, the Queensland Cup. The club was admitted to the Queensland Cup in September 2014, first competing in the 2015 season. The side plays their home games at Jack Manski Oval. History The beginnings of a Townsville team's bid to return to the Queensland Cup date back to 2007, when the Townsville-based North Queensland Young Guns folded at the end of the season. Before the Young Guns entered the competition in 2002, Townsville was represented in the Queensland Cup by the Townsville Stingers, who only lasted one season in 1998. The Mackay Cutters are a semi-professional rugby league football club based in Mackay, Queensland, Mackay, Queensland. They compete in Queensland's top rugby league competition, the Queensland Cup. 2015 Townsville Blackhawks Season
The 2015 Townsville Blackhawks season was the first in the club's history. Coached by Kristian Woolf and captained by Daniel Beasley, they competed in the Intrust Super Cup. The club won the minor premiership before losing in the grand final 20-32 to the Ipswich Jets. Season summary The Blackhawks played their first Intrust Super Cup game against the Mackay Cutters in Townsville, winning 30-16. They received their first loss the following week, losing 24-36 to the Ipswich Jets. The club then went on an 8-game winning streak before losing to the PNG Hunters at home. Taylor Welch (born November 1, 1989) is an American rugby footballer who played one professional rugby league match for the Warrington Wolves in the Super League in 2008. Tom Humble (born 5 November 1988) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who last played for the Townsville Blackhawks in the Queensland Cup. National Youth Competition (rugby League)
The NRL Under-20s (known commercially as the Holden Cup due to sponsorship from Holden) was the top league of professional rugby league for players aged 20 years or younger in Australasia. Contested by sixteen teams, the Under-20s competition commenced in 2008 and was originally known as the Toyota Cup.
