The Young Fresh Fellows
The Young Fresh Fellows are an American alternative rock group, that was formed in 1981 in Seattle, Washington, United States, by Scott McCaughey and Chuck Carroll. Tad Hutchison, Chuck Carroll's first cousin, joined for the recording of the group's debut album in 1983. History Their first album was ''The Fabulous Sounds of the Pacific Northwest'' (1984) after which Jim Sangster joined the group on bass and McCaughey switched from bass to guitar. Carroll left the group in 1988, and was replaced by Kurt Bloch from The Fastbacks. The song "Amy Grant", a comical song about Contemporary Christian music and pop music artist Amy Grant, from the album '' The Men Who Loved Music'', was a success on college radio and arguably their biggest hit. The band are still together, although after 1996's ''A Tribute To Music'' they released no new material until ''Because We Hate You'' (2001), a split release with McCaughey's other band, the Minus 5. I Think This Is
''I Think This Is'' is a studio album by Young Fresh Fellows, released on Yep Roc Records in 2009. It was released the same day as Scott McCaughey's other project The Minus 5's '' Killingsworth''. The album was recorded at the behest of former Soft Boys member and friend Robyn Hitchcock, who offered to produce it. McCaughey had previously approached Hitchcock to produce an album 20 years prior, but the two couldn't arrange for an in-studio collaboration until they had toured together and several of the Fellows worked on his ''Jewels for Sophia''. Reception Mark Deming of Allmusic gave the album 3.5 out of five stars, calling it, "unusually focused and coherent-sounding" even as it transcends narrow genre definitions. PopMatters' Ron Hart awarded the album a 9 out of 10, agreeing that it is the most cohesive release from The Young Fresh Fellows and declared it their best album. PopLlama Records
PopLlama Records is an independent record label founded by record producer Conrad Uno in Seattle, Washington, in 1984. After making several of his own demos in his basement studio, Uno would produce The Young Fresh Fellows' debut album ''The Fabulous Sounds of the Pacific Northwest'' at the band's request. When the band decided to release their own albums, Uno founded PopLlama Records to help, releasing their debut album as well as the follow up '' Topsy Turvy''. Uno would continue to produce, usually for friends, and release albums through PopLlama throughout the 1980s. Benderama
"Benderama" is the seventeenth episode of season six of the animated sitcom '' Futurama'', and originally aired June 23, 2011 on Comedy Central. The episode was written by Aaron Ehasz and directed by Crystal Chesney-Thompson. American comedian Patton Oswalt guest stars in the episode, voicing an "unattractive giant monster". In the episode, Bender duplicates himself into two smaller copies in order to avoid work. However, the duplicates also want to avoid work, so they create their own smaller duplicates, resulting in a vast number of increasingly smaller copies of Bender ultimately threatening to consume all of the matter on Earth. The Makers are a garage rock/rock-n-roll band from Spokane, Washington, formed in 1991, The Makers at allmusic.com/ref> with releases on Estrus Records, Sub Pop Records, and Kill Rock Stars Records. Robyn Rowan Hitchcock (born 3 March 1953) is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist. While primarily a vocalist and guitarist, he also plays harmonica, piano, and bass guitar. After leading the Soft Boys in the late 1970s and releasing the influential ''Underwater Moonlight'', Hitchcock launched a prolific solo career. His musical and lyrical styles have been influenced by Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Syd Barrett, Captain Beefheart, Martin Carthy, Lou Reed, Roger McGuinn and Bryan Ferry. Sublime was an American reggae rock and ska punk band from Long Beach, California, formed in 1988. The band's line-up, consistent throughout its duration, consisted of Bradley Nowell (vocals and guitar), Eric Wilson (bass), and Bud Gaugh (drums). Bradley Nowell
Bradley James Nowell (February 22, 1968 – May 25, 1996) was an American musician and the lead singer and guitarist of the ska punk band Sublime. Born and raised in Belmont Shore, Long Beach, California, Nowell developed an interest in music at a young age. His father took him on a trip to Jamaica during his childhood years, which exposed him to reggae and dancehall music; he then gained a strong interest in rock music once he learned how to play guitar. Nowell played in various bands until forming Sublime with bassist Eric Wilson and drummer Bud Gaugh, whom he had met while attending California State University at Long Beach. In his lifetime, Sublime released the albums '' 40oz. to Freedom'' and ''Robbin' the Hood'' to critical and commercial success.
