The Torah Instruction Of The Kohanim
In Judaism, the instructions of the priests ( he, תורת כהנים ''torat kohanim'') are the rulings and teachings of the priests that are addressed to the Jewish people. Numerous Biblical passages attest to the role of the priests in teaching Torah to the people and in issuing judgment. Later rabbinic statements elaborate on these roles. However, the priest's religious authority is not automatic: even a bastard who is a scholar takes precedence over an ignorant high priest. The term ''torat kohanim'' is also used specifically as a title for the book of Leviticus, or for the Sifra (a work of '' halakhic midrash'' to Leviticus). Eliyahu Bakshi-Doron ( he, אליהו בקשי דורון‎; April 5, 1941 – April 12, 2020) was an Israeli rabbi who served as Rishon LeZion (Chief Rabbi of Israel) from 1993 to 2003. Niddah (or nidah; he, נִדָּה), in traditional Judaism, describes a woman who has experienced a uterine discharge of blood (most commonly during menstruation), or a woman who has menstruated and not yet completed the associated requirement of immersion in a ''mikveh'' (ritual bath).
