The Rasmus
The Rasmus is a Finnish Pop music, rock band that formed in 1994 in Helsinki while the band members were in upper comprehensive school.Main source of the band's history: The original band members were Lauri Ylönen (founder, frontman, lead singer-songwriter), Eero Heinonen (bass), Pauli Rantasalmi (guitar) and Jarno Lahti (drums). Jarno Lahti left the year after and was replaced by Janne Heiskanen in 1995. Heiskanen quit the band in 1999 and was soon replaced by Aki Hakala. Pauli Rantasalmi left the band and was replaced by guitarist Emilia "Emppu" Suhonen in 2022. Best known for their 2003 hit single "In the Shadows (song), In the Shadows", the band has sold over 5 million albums worldwide and 350,000 albums in Finland alone, and has won numerous awards, both domestic and international. In The Shadows (song)
"In the Shadows" is a song by Finnish alternative rock band the Rasmus, included on the group's fifth studio album ''Dead Letters''. Released in Finland in January 2003, the single achieved considerable chart success throughout Europe and Oceania, including the United Kingdom, where it reached 3, and New Zealand, where it topped the chart. The song was nominated for the Kerrang! Award for Best Single in 2004. Composition "In the Shadows" is written in the key of F minor. The chorus is based on the " millennial whoop" vocal pattern, and is considered the earliest 21st century example of this tool in popular music. The "whoop" did exist before, but only became ubiquitous after "In the Shadows". Lauttasaari
Lauttasaari (; ) is an island in Helsinki, Finland, about west of the city centre. Together with some surrounding unpopulated small islands, Lauttasaari is also a district of Helsinki. With 23,226 residents as of 2017, the island is Finland's second largest by population, after Fasta Åland. Its land area is 3.85 km. Lauttasaari is primarily a residential area but also contains services, including several marinas and canoe clubs. Although close to the city centre, Lauttasaari has not been entirely built up. "Liquid" is a power ballad by the Finnish rock band The Rasmus, originally released on the band's third album ''Hell of a Tester'' on 2 November 1998. The single was released in 1998 by the record label Warner Music Finland. The single (which was the first one from the album ''Hell of a Tester'') features only the track "Liquid". ''Hell of a Tester'' (sometimes written Hellofatester) is the third studio album by The Rasmus, then called Rasmus. It was released in 1998 by Warner Music and received Gold status in Finland. The most popular single was ''Liquid (The Rasmus song), Liquid'', which was released in September, getting into the Top 40 on MTV Nordic. It was voted Single of the Year for 1998 by music critics and fans and the video won an award in 1999 at the Finnish Music Video Awards. The album was positively received by fans.
