Sveriges Television AB ("Sweden's Television Stock Company"), shortened to SVT (), is the Sweden, Swedish national public broadcasting, public television broadcaster, funded by a public service tax on personal income set by the Riksdag (national parliament). SVT1 (SVT Ett; commonly referred to as Ettan) is the primary television station of the Swedish public service broadcaster Sveriges Television in Sweden. History Television in Sweden officially launched on 4 September 1956 with the launch of ''Radiotjänst TV'', which was renamed ''Sveriges Radio TV'' a year later. SVT2 (SVT Två; commonly referred to as Tvåan), is one of the two main television channels broadcast by Sveriges Television in Sweden. Launched in 1969 by Sveriges Radio, the channel was until the 1990s the most watched in Sweden for many years, but now serves as SVT's specialist television network, carrying more highbrow and minority programming compared to the more mainstream SVT1. Kunskapskanalen (in English: ''The Knowledge Channel'') is a Swedish language television channel broadcasting educational and factual programming between 9 a.m. and 01 a.m. all days of the week. The channel is operated by Sveriges Television (SVT) and Sveriges Utbildningsradio (UR) and is broadcast by satellite, cable and digital terrestrial television to Sweden as well as by cable to parts of Finland and terrestrially on Åland. The Kaknäs tower ( sv, Kaknästornet) is a telecommunications tower located at Ladugårdsgärdet in Stockholm, Sweden. The tower is a major hub of Swedish television, radio and satellite broadcasts. It was finished in 1967, designed by architect Bengt Lindroos, and the height is or with the top antenna included. For a few years Kaknästornet was the tallest building in the Nordic countries until Näsinneula was opened in Tampere, Finland in 1971. It was surpassed in 2005 by the Turning Torso in Malmö. The tower is owned by the national Swedish broadcasting company Teracom. Its name comes from the ancient name of the area, Kaknäs. The tower used to be open to the public, with an information centre and gift shop, indoor and outdoor observation decks as well as a restaurant, but has now been permanently closed to the public since 2018 on the grounds that the security repairs would have become too expensive. Hanna Lovisa Stjärne (born 17 March 1969) is a Swedish journalist and media executive. In September 2014 she was announced as the new CEO for Sveriges Television (SVT), succeeding the resigning CEO Eva Hamilton. Biography Hanna Stjärne was born and raised in Danderyd, Sweden. She attended Adolf Fredrik's Music School, with a specialty in singing. She studied journalism at Stockholm University, and then worked as a political reporter at the radio news show ''Dagens Eko'' at Sveriges Radio. She was also a foreign reporter based in Brussels for the same show. In 2001 Stjärne became a national reporter for ''Ekot'' at Sveriges Radio and in 2002 she was announced as the youngest-ever boss for Sveriges Radio P1. SVT24, stylized as svt24, formerly known as SVT 24 (then stylized svt 24) or 24 is a Swedish language TV channel broadcast by Sveriges Television (SVT). It started broadcasting in 1999 as a dedicated news channel. In 2003 it extended its scope to include other current events-related programmes and sports at the weekend. Nowadays the channel mainly consists of news, sports and entertainment programmes with a focus on reruns from SVT1 and SVT2. History On 15 March 1999 at 13:15 the broadcasting of SVT24 started.
