She (Dalbello Album)
''she'' is the fifth studio album by Canadian singer Dalbello, released in 1987 by EMI. The album included her biggest Canadian chart hits, "Tango" and "Black on Black". "Black on Black" appeared in a different form on the soundtrack of the film ''9½ Weeks''. "Black on Black" starts with a looped sample from Gregorio Allegri's work "Miserere mei, Deus". Heart recorded a cover version of sorts with "Black on Black II" which became the most noteworthy version of the song as a Top 5 ''Billboard'' Rock Chart hit on their 1993 album ''Desire Walks On''. The Heart version is similar in structure but in a more heavy metal style and some minor changes to verses. On this version Dalbello provided backing vocals and shared writing credit with the Wilson sisters. David Gilmour of Pink Floyd guests on guitar on the last song of the album, "Immaculate Eyes". Heart (band)
Heart is an American rock band formed in 1967 in Seattle, Washington, as The Army. Two years later they changed their name to Hocus Pocus. The year following they changed their name to White Heart, and eventually changed the name a final time to Heart, in 1973. By the mid-1970s, original members Roger Fisher (guitar) and Steve Fossen (bass guitar) had been joined by sisters Ann Wilson (lead vocals and flute) and Nancy Wilson (rhythm guitar, vocals), Michael Derosier (drums), and Howard Leese (guitar, keyboards and backing vocals) to form the lineup for the band's initial mid- to late-1970s success period. These core members were included in the band's 2013 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Heart rose to fame with music influenced by hard rock and heavy metal, as well as folk music. Bernard Edwards
Bernard Edwards (October 31, 1952 – April 18, 1996) was an American bass player and record producer, known primarily for his work in disco music with guitarist Nile Rodgers, with whom he co-founded Chic. In 2017, Edwards was selected as the 53rd greatest bassist of all time by ''Bass Player'' magazine. Biography Edwards was born in Greenville, North Carolina and grew up in Brooklyn, New York City, where he met Nile Rodgers in the early 1970s. At the time, Edwards was working at a post office with the mother of Rodgers' girlfriend. The two formed the Big Apple Band (active 1972–1976) and then united with drummer Tony Thompson to eventually form Chic together with singer Norma Jean Wright. Steve Webster (bassist)
Steve Webster is a Canadian bassist, record producer, arranger, audio engineer and composer. A multiple Juno Award nominee and winner, Webster's career spans over 3 decades of music production and performance. Recent accomplishments include Juno Award nominations for Producer of the Year and Jazz Vocal Album of the Year for Emilie-Claire Barlow's album Clear Day. A founding member of Canada's The Parachute Club, Webster was part of Toronto's vibrant music scene in the '80s and '90s, working often at Hamilton's Grant Avenue Studio, home to Daniel Lanois and David Bottrill. Webster has worked with other notable producers Michael Beinhorn and Rick Parashar. Webster recorded and performed live with Canadian stars Alannah Myles, Dalbello and Carole Pope. Kevin Breit is a Canadian musician from Northern Canada. Breit has collaborated in numerous bands, and recorded solo albums on his own Poverty Playlist label, and Stony Plain Records. He is also well known for session work on numerous Grammy award winning albums by a wide range of artists including Cassandra Wilson and Norah Jones . Projects Kevin Breit is the leader of the quartet Sisters Euclid, comprising Breit, Ian DeSouza, Gary Taylor and Mark Lalama. Sisters Euclid formed in 1996, and have earned Juno and National Jazz Awards. In 2006, they released an instrumental jazz fusion album of Neil Young songs entitled ''Run Neil Run''. Ron Cahute ( uk, Рoман Кoгут) (born March 26, 1955 in Toronto, Canada) is a Ukrainian-Canadian recording artist and songwriter. He is an accordion player and founding member of the Ukrainian-Canadian music band Burya ( uk, Буря) (English translation: Storm). He is an arranger, sound engineer, music producer, and musical director for Ukrainian dance ensembles in Toronto. Cahute began his music career in 1962 as a drummer in the band of his late father Maurice Cahute. In 1969, he founded a Ukrainian-Canadian music band, which was later called Burya. He released over 30 albums either with Burya or as a solo artist. As a guest performer with other music artists he has performed on 178 albums. PPG Wave
The PPG Wave is a series of synthesizers built by the German company Palm Products GmbH from 1981 to 1987. Background Until the early 1980s, the tonal palette of commercial synthesizers was limited to that which could be obtained by combining a few simple waveforms such as sine, sawtooth, pulse. The result was shaped with VCFs and VCAs. Wolfgang Palm transcended this limitation by pioneering the concept of wavetable synthesis, where single cycle waveforms of differing harmonic spectra were stored in adjacent memory slots. Dynamic spectral shifts were achieved by scanning through the waveforms, with interpolation used to avoid noticeable 'jumps' between the adjacent waveforms. Palm's efforts resulted in PPG's first wavetable synthesizer, the Wavecomputer 360 (1978), which provides the user with 30 different wavetables consisting of 64 waves each. Scott Humphrey is a Canadian record producer and mix engineer. He began his music career as a keyboard player and programmer.
