Sea Aster
''Tripolium pannonicum'', called sea aster or seashore aster and often known by the synonyms ''Aster tripolium'' or ''Aster pannonicus'', is a flowering plant, native to Eurasia and northern Africa, that is confined in its distribution to salt marshes, estuaries and occasionally to inland salt works. It is a perennial growing up to 50 cm tall with fleshy lanceolate leaves and purple ray florets flowering from July to September. The plants tend to be short-lived and populations need significant new recruitment each year from new seedlings. There are rayed as well as rayless varieties and only the former have long blue or white florets. The rayless form is yellow. The plant flowers well into autumn and hence provides a valuable source of nectar for late-flying butterflies such as painted lady and red admiral. Dariya Nikitichna Dobroczajeva (Ukrainian: Дарія Микитівна Доброчаєва; March 30, 1916, Khyshnyky, now Khmelnytskyi Raion, Khmelnytskyi Oblast, Ukraine – December 1, 1995, Kyiv, Ukraine) was a Ukrainian botanist and university teacher. Biography Dobroczajeva was the head of the Botanical Museum of the Botanical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. She brought back numerous herbarium materials from expeditions in Ukraine and private trips to various countries, donating more than 30,000 herbarium sheets to the Institute of Botany. For a long time, she headed the herbarium exchange fund, significantly expanded her connections to botanical institutions in many countries of Europe, Asia and America, and intensified her work to replenish the world flora collection. Korea National Arboretum () is an over-500-year-old arboretum located in Pocheon city of Gyeonggi Province of South Korea. It is widely known as "Gwangneung Forest ()" by the public. It is designated as UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves, World Network of Biosphere Reserve and the country's 11th Natural monuments of South Korea, natural monument. Its history can be traced back to Joseon Dynasty. The planting of large forests started during the reign of Sejo of Joseon.
