Pivot Animator (formerly Pivot Stickfigure Animator and usually shortened to Pivot) is a freeware application that allows users to create stick-figure and sprite animations, and save them in the animated GIF format for use on web pages and the AVI format (in Pivot Animator 3 and later). Pivot provides a simple, easy to use interface with a few features. It uses fixed-length 'sticks' to ensure size consistency during animation. Development and history First release The first version of Pivot Animator had several software bugs. Stick figures were limited to one type of stick figure, the default stick figure. Animations could be saved in the PIV (Pivot Project File) or exported as Animated .GIFs (Graphics Interchangeable Format). PivotX
PivotX is an open-source blog software written in PHP using either flat files or a database to store content. It uses the Smarty web template system and the TinyMCE editor. One installation can handle several blogs, each with its own configuration, including themes. Users belong to different levels regarding managing and editing privileges. New functions can be added via extensions managed through the admin interface. Its development began in 2001 under the name Pivot, using only flat files. In 2012, PivotX developers announced that future versions of this CMS will go two ways: full-fledged "Pivot 4", built on Symfony2 framework, and lightweight "Bolt" CMS, built on Silex framework. Apache Pivot is an open-source platform for building rich web applications in Java or any JVM-compatible language. It is released under the Apache License version 2.0. PVT (disemvoweling of ''pivot'') is an experimental band based between London and Sydney. Band members are Richard Pike, Laurence Pike and Dave Miller. Brothers Richard and Laurence grew up in Sydney, later meeting Dave Miller who originally comes from Perth, Australia. The band have released five albums. History PVT was formed as Pivot in Sydney in 1999 by brothers Richard Pike and Laurence Pike. Morrow Pivot II
The Morrow Pivot II, released in May 1985, was a portable personal computer 100% compatible with IBM PC Software. It was designed by Norman Towson and Micheal Stolowitz, and manufactured by Morrow Designs - based on the Pivot designed by Vadem Corp. With one drive, 256 KB RAM, and a monochrome backlit LCD, the Pivot II had a list price of US$1,995. The Morrow Pivot II included one or two 5-1/4" floppy drives. This machine was in a vertical configuration with a fold down keyboard. This was called a "lunch box" style unlike the typical laptop today. The only external component was a single AC adapter. It would have been a little top heavy except for the large Panasonic camcorder battery loaded into its base. Quicksort
Quicksort is an efficient, general-purpose sorting algorithm. Quicksort was developed by British computer scientist Tony Hoare in 1959 and published in 1961, it is still a commonly used algorithm for sorting. Overall, it is slightly faster than merge sort and heapsort for randomized data, particularly on larger distributions. Quicksort is a divide-and-conquer algorithm. It works by selecting a 'pivot' element from the array and partitioning the other elements into two sub-arrays, according to whether they are less than or greater than the pivot.
