Patwardhan
Patwardhan may refer to the surname most commonly used by members of Indian Chitpavan Brahmin families belonging to the Kaundinya gotra. The Karhade Patwardhans belong to the Kashyapa and Naidhruva Gotra and their history in the Rajapur region of the Konkan dates back to 1191 A.D. Copper plate grants have been recovered from the region, which also points to a Gurjar element in these settlers. Today the Karhade Patwardhans are also known by some other surnames such as Gurjar, Padhye, Bhat, Degwekar, Shouche and Huzurbazar. Anand Patwardhan (born 18 February 1950) is an Indian documentary filmmaker known for his socio-political, human rights-oriented films. Some of his films explore the rise of religious fundamentalism, sectarianism and casteism in India, while others investigate nuclear nationalism and unsustainable development. Bhushan Patwardhan (born 1959) is a Professor of Health Sciences, biomedical scientist, and ethnopharmacology, ethnopharmacologist. He serves as the chairman of the Interdisciplinary Ministry of AYUSH, AYUSH R&D Task Force on COVID-19. Until March 4, 2021, Patwardhan served as the Vice Chairman of the University Grants Commission (India), University Grants Commission, New Delhi, and Chairman of the Indian Council of Social Science Research. Achyut Patwardhan
Achyut Patwardhan (5 February 1905 – 5 August 1992) was an Indian independence activist and political leader and founder of the Socialist Party of India. He was also a philosopher who believed fundamental change in society begins with man himself. Early life Achyut's father, Hari Keshav Patwardhan, was a prosperous legal practitioner at Ahmednagar. He had six sons of whom Achyut was the second. When Achyut was a boy of four years, Sitaram Patwardhan, a retired Deputy Educational Inspector, adopted him. Sitaram died in 1917, leaving considerable property for Achyut. After finishing his primary and secondary education at Ahmednagar, Achyut passed the B. A. and M. Patwardhan Dynasty
The Patwardhan dynasty was an Indian dynasty established by the Chitpavan Brahmin Patwardhan family, ruling several parts of the Maratha Empire from 1733 till 1948, when it acceded to the Dominion of India. At its peak, various branches of the dynasty controlled several Jagirs within the Maratha Empire, and later became protectorate Princely states in British India. Madhav Julian
Madhav Julian ( mr, माधव जुलियन) (21 January 1894 – 29 November 1939) was the pen name which Madhav Tryambak Patwardhan ( mr, माधव त्र्यंबक पटवर्धन) used in writing Marathi poetry. Padma Gole ( mr, पद्मा गोळे; 1913–1998) was a Marathi poet from Maharashtra, India born in patwardhan family of Tasgaon (District Sangli). She was one of the many women from rich Indian families who were emboldened by the Gandhian movement to become feminist writers. Avinash Balkrishna Patwardhan born 30 August 1953 in Nagpur, Maharshatra (India) is a civil engineer from Govt College of Engineering, Amravati (GCoEA) in 1975 and a law graduate who has profound knowledge and interest in Indian classical music.
