Patten (band)
Patten (always written in lowercase, patten) is the pseudonym of a London-based electronic experimental musician and audiovisual artist. Music Patten began as an electronic music project by a London based musician calling himself ''D''. While running a record label called Kaleidoscope, he released music on CD-Rs since 2006. The first official patten LP GLAQJO XAACSSO was released in September 2011 through UK label, No Pain in Pop. In November 2013 patten signed to Warp Records, releasing the EOLIAN INSTATE EP soon after in an edition of 500 12" picture discs, with artwork by frequent visual collaborator Jane Eastlight (revealed in 2022 via social media by patten to be another pseudonym). February 2014 saw the release of the first LP for Warp, entitled ESTOILE NAIANT. Power Lunches
Power Lunches Arts Café was a music venue, rehearsal space, and creative hub located on Kingsland Road in Dalston, a district of the London Borough of Hackney. It opened in 2011 and closed in 2015. It started out with gigs planned to be only at weekends, but later became a prominent feature of Hackney’s DIY music scene with gigs most nights every week. Though originally genuinely also a café, it eventually stopped serving food. The cafe hosted performances in its basement, the absolute maximum capacity of both floors was 150. These were most often concerts by local bands, but also saw acts from elsewhere in the UK, as well as further afield. Staff of the venue hosted a radio show showcasing the type of musicians to appear there on NTS Radio between 2012 and 2015. Flat Time House was the studio home of British conceptual artist John Latham (1921–2006) and is now open as a contemporary art gallery, centre for alternative learning and artist residency space, housing the John Latham archive. ''Peanuts'' is a print syndication, syndicated daily strip, daily and Sunday strip, Sunday American comic strip written and illustrated by Charles M. Schulz. The strip's original run extended from 1950 to 2000, continuing in reruns afterward. Somerset House
Somerset House is a large Neoclassical complex situated on the south side of the Strand in central London, overlooking the River Thames, just east of Waterloo Bridge. The Georgian era quadrangle was built on the site of a Tudor palace ("Old Somerset House") originally belonging to the Duke of Somerset. Audiovisual art is the exploration of kinetic abstract art and music or sound set in relation to each other. It includes visual music, abstract film, audiovisual performances and installations. Overview The book ''Art and the Senses'' cites the Italian Futurist artists, Fortunato Depero and Luigi Russolo as designing art machines in 1915 to create a multisensory experience of sound, movement and colour. In the 1970s Harry Bertoia created sound sculptures of objects to have a multisensory effect, exploring the relationships between the sound, the initiating event and the material properties of the objects. Bleep is an online independent record shop that mainly showcases music from independent artists and labels. Created by Warp Records and launched in January 2004, Bleep offers single tracks and whole albums as both digital and physical purchases, the latter including vinyl records, compact cassettes and CDs. All music they sell is free of digital rights management (DRM) technologies. They also sell DVDs, clothing, and other merchandise from a variety of labels and designers. Antipop Consortium is an American alternative hip hop group. The group formed in 1997, when Beans, High Priest, M. Sayyid, and producer Earl Blaize met at a poetry slam in New York City. They are notable for their stream-of-consciousness lyrics and musical references to contemporary composition methods. History The group released several tape singles and two albums primarily on Dan the Automator's experimental hip-hop label 75 Ark before being signed by Warp Records in 2000. Their releases were met with mixed reviews from the mainstream music and underground hip-hop press alike, although they are noted for their inventiveness and the experimental electronic productions contributed by all members. The Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) is an artistic and cultural centre on The Mall in London, just off Trafalgar Square. Located within Nash House, part of Carlton House Terrace, near the Duke of York Steps and Admiralty Arch, the ICA contains galleries, a theatre, two cinemas, a bookshop and a bar.
