One Good Turn Deserves Another
''One Good Turn Deserves Another'' is the debut album by the Canadian band Slaves on Dope. It was released only in Canada during 1997, through Just a Minute Records. Background and music Slaves on Dope had previously released an independent demo in 1994 titled ''Sober'' which managed to sell 5,000 copies. The band then went on to tour Canada five times after its release, and created enough of a buzz to eventually start playing shows in the United States. On the back of this, they signed in 1997 to Just a Minute Records, a subsidiary of Montreal jazz label Justin Time Records. The two labels were founded by Jim West, and in 1997 Just a Minute was described as being dedicated to "hip, new alternative-flavored rock". Slaves on Dope were the first band signed to the label, and ''One Good Turn Deserves Another'' was its first official release. Slaves on Dope is a Canadian metal band based in Montreal, Quebec. History The band was formed in 1993 by Jason Rockman, Kevin Jardine and Avrum Nadigel. The original line-up also included Patrick Francis, and Lenny Vartanian. In 1995, the bass guitarist Francis and the drummer Vartanian were replaced by Frank Salvaggio and Robert Urbani respectively, beginning a new, heavier metal direction for the band. At that time, the Canadian music scene had yet to embrace nu/alternative metal music, so Salvaggio and Urbani decided to make a six-day trip by Greyhound bus from Montreal to Los Angeles, the center of alternative metal, to make contacts and secure showcases for the band. After a year, the band secured a record deal through Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne's Divine Recordings, which released their full-length album, ''Inches from the Mainline'', in 2000. The Chemical Brothers are an English electronic music duo formed by Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons in Manchester in 1989. They were pioneers (along with the Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, the Crystal Method, and other acts) in bringing the big beat genre to the forefront of pop culture. The Prodigy
The Prodigy are an English electronic dance music band formed in Braintree, Essex, in 1990 by producer, keyboard player and songwriter Liam Howlett. The original line-up also featured dancer and singer Keith Flint and dancer and occasional live keyboard player Leeroy Thornhill, dancer Sharky and MC and vocalist Maxim. They were pioneers of the breakbeat-influenced genre big beat, and achieved mainstream popularity in the 1990s. Faith No More is an American rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in 1979. Before settling on the current name in July 1983, the band performed under the names Sharp Young Men and later Faith No Man. Bassist Billy Gould, keyboardist/rhythm guitarist Roddy Bottum and drummer Mike Bordin are the longest-remaining members of the band, having been involved since its inception. The band underwent several early lineup changes, and some major changes later. The Tea Party is a Canadian rock band with industrial rock, blues, progressive rock, and Middle Eastern music influences, dubbed " Moroccan roll" by the media. Active throughout the 1990s and up until 2005, the band re-formed in 2011.
