Margaret Olley
Margaret Hannah Olley (24 June 192326 July 2011) was an Australian painter. She was the subject of more than ninety solo exhibitions. Early life Margaret Olley was born in Lismore, New South Wales. She was the eldest of three children of Joseph Olley and Grace (née Temperley). The Olley family moved to Tully, Queensland, Tully in far north Queensland in 1925, with Margaret boarding at Cathedral School, Townsville, St Anne's in Townsville in 1929, before returning to New South Wales in 1931. The family temporarily moved to Brisbane in 1935 with Margaret staying to attend Somerville House in Brisbane during her high school years. She was so focused on art that she dropped one French class in order to take another art lesson with teacher and artist Caroline Barker (artist), Caroline Barker. Michelle Olley is a British writer, journalist and magazine and book editor. Michelle Olley attended the University of Westminster in London where she attained a BA (Hons) in Media Studies, specialising in print journalism. She began her career in journalism at TW Publishing Ltd when writing and feature-editing Skin Two magazine (along with co-founders and editors, Tim Woodward and Grace Lau) – interviewing, amongst others, Jean Paul Gaultier, Tim Burton, Marilyn Manson, The Cramps, Marc Almond, Terence Sellers and Clive Barker – before becoming associate editor and director of TW Publishing Ltd at only 23 years of age. Greg Thomas Olley (born 2 February 1996) is an English professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for club Gateshead. Chris Olley
Chris Olley is a Nottingham based musician and photographer. He was the lead singer and guitarist for Six By Seven and also the band's main creative influence. He studied art at Wakefield College (1990–91) and gained a BA (Hons) in photography at Nottingham Trent University (1991–94). It was at his time at University that Olley met Sam Hempton and together they formed six.byseven. Olley and Chris Davis were the only constant members in the different line-ups of Six By Seven over the years. Although born in England, Olley spent much of his early years in Germany, a fact alluded to on Six By Seven's first single "European Me". Consequently, some Six By Seven releases have featured tracks sung entirely in German, most notably the B-Side "Helden", a cover of David Bowie's song '' "Heroes"''. June Norma Olley
June Norma Olley (2 March 1924 – 29 July 2019) was a world-renowned seafood technologist and advocate for women's education. She was among the first to devise a scientific methodology for predictive microbiology. Early life Olley was born on 2 March 1924 in London in a bungalow at the back of Croydon aerodrome. Despite the expense, she was enrolled in boarding school by her mother who even inspected the standard of the school's laboratories. Her father, an early aviator and airline owner, "didn't believe in education for girls". Passionate about science from a young age, she was so devoted to her studies that her teachers blocked out the windows of the science library during the Blitz so she could continue to work there at night. Robert Olley
Robert "Bob" Olley (born 16 January 1940) is an artist and sculptor best known for his mining subjects, humorous drawings and paintings of everyday life, especially his iconic painting and internationally acclaimed ''Westoe Netty''. Career Born into a mining family in 1940 and educated at Westoe Secondary Modern, Olley began his working life 1955 as a painter and decorator before going into the mining industry in which he spent eleven years at Whitburn Colliery until the pit closed 1968. Leaving the industry he joined Plessey Telecoms by which time he was developing his artistic talents with the hope of becoming a professional magazine illustrator supplementing his income by selling his paintings at the Sunday Painters Exhibition on Bayswater Road, London.
