Minister Responsible For The Provincial Anti-drug Strategy (Ontario)
The Anti-Drug Secretariat was a provincial government agency in Ontario, Canada, from 1989 to 1992. It was led by a member of the Executive Council of Ontario, who was styled as the Minister responsible for the provincial anti-drug strategy. The first minister to hold this position was Ken Black, who also served as Minister of Tourism and Recreation in the government of David Peterson. Black had previously authored a report on the province's anti-drug strategy and served as the premier's advisor on drug issues. Following his appointment, he was responsible for coordinating anti-drug strategies within seven government ministries. The Executive Council of Ontario (french: Conseil des ministres de l'Ontario), often informally referred to as the Cabinet of Ontario (french: Cabinet de l'Ontario, links=no), is the cabinet of the Canadian province of Ontario. It comprises ministers of the provincial Crown, who are selected by the premier of Ontario (the first minister of the Crown) and appointed by the lieutenant governor. Ken Black
Kenneth Hilton Black (March 11, 1932 – August 29, 2016) was a Canadian politician. He was a Liberal member in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1987 to 1990, and represented the central Ontario riding of Muskoka–Georgian Bay. He served as a cabinet minister in the government of David Peterson. Background Black was born in Bracebridge, Ontario and graduated from the University of Toronto in 1955. He was a secondary school teacher and principal from 1958 to 1980, and was superintendent of the Muskoka Board of Education from 1980 to 1987. David Robert Peterson (born December 28, 1943) is a Canadian lawyer and former politician who served as the 20th premier of Ontario from 1985 to 1990. He was the first Liberal officeholder in 42 years, ending the so-called Tory dynasty. Frances Lankin, (born April 16, 1954), is a Canadian senator, former president and CEO of United Way Toronto, and a former Ontario MPP and cabinet minister in the NDP government of Bob Rae between 1990 and 1995.
