This is a list of municipalities of Sweden after the division at the turn of the year of 2011–12. There are 290 municipalities. All statistics are from 1 January 2013, except for population (30 September 2013) and density (1 January 2013 and 30 September 2013). Code refers to the municipality code, Total area includes seawater area and Inland water area excludes the four largest lakes in Sweden (Vänern, Vättern, Mälaren and Hjälmaren). Aneby
Aneby is a locality and the seat of Aneby Municipality in Jönköping County, Sweden. While the municipality has about 6500 inhabitants, half live in the central town of Aneby. The municipality lies amidst the south Swedish highlands, 45 kilometers from Jönköping and can be found along highway route 34 that stretches from Tranås in the north to Eksjö in the south. History Though the 1900s brought the most dramatic changes to Aneby, there is evidence that supports there being humans around since the Stone Age. Though one event prior to the events of the early 20th century was also quite important to this once primarily rural society which is the construction of a rail line in (inaugurated 1874) that stretched from Aneby to Nässjö, which is still used to this day. Askersund Municipality
Askersund Municipality (''Askersunds kommun'') is a municipality in Örebro County in central Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Askersund. The present municipality was created in 1971, when the former ''City of Askersund'' was merged with the rural municipalities ''Hammar'' and ''Lerbäck''. Värmland County
Värmland County (''Värmlands län'') is a county or '' län'' in west central Sweden. It borders the Swedish counties of Dalarna, Örebro and Västra Götaland, as well as the Norwegian counties of Viken and Innlandet to the west. Prince Carl Philip is Duke of Värmland. Arvika
Arvika is a locality and the seat of Arvika Municipality, Värmland County, Sweden with 14,244 inhabitants in 2010. Geography The town of Arvika is situated at Kyrkviken, a bay of Glafsfjorden, Sweden's only inland fjord, a remnant of the time following the last ice age (once a fjord of the Ancylus Lake). The town is located approximately 380 km west of Stockholm, 250 km north of Gothenburg, 150 km east of Oslo, and 50 km from the Norwegian border. The area is hilly with the tallest hill ''Storkasberget'' close to the town centre. Arvika and its surroundings have excellent water infrastructure. In fact, Arvika has the innermost harbour in the whole of Sweden. Through a system of canals, lake Vänern can be reached, and from there the Göta Canal allows further passage to Gothenburg and Sweden's west coast. Arvika Municipality (''Arvika kommun'') is a municipality in Värmland County in west central Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Arvika. The present municipality was created in 1971 when the former City of Arvika was amalgamated with five rural municipalities of Glava, Gunnarskog, Älgå, Brunskog and Stavnäs. Arvidsjaur (; sju, Árviesjávrrie; ) is a Urban areas in Sweden, locality and the seat of Arvidsjaur Municipality in Norrbotten County, provinces of Sweden, province of Lapland, Sweden, Lapland, Sweden with 4,635 inhabitants in 2010. Arvidsjaur is a center for the European car industry. During the winter months, major car-manufacturers perform arctic trials in the Arvidsjaur Municipality. Arvidsjaur Municipality
Arvidsjaur Municipality ( sv, Arvidsjaurs kommun; sju, Árviesjávrrien kommuvdna) is a municipality in Norrbotten County in northern Sweden. Its seat is Arvidsjaur. History Arvidsjaur Municipality was for a long time inhabited only by the Sami people. They were back then a hunting people, living off the abundance of fish and wildlife in the area. Archaeological discoveries suggest that people have been moving through the area for several thousands of years. The name ''Arvidsjaur'' itself comes from a Sami word which means "generous water" and was originally the name of the adjacent lake. In the 14th and 15th century some farmers settled in the area. They acquired furs and skins from the hunters, and traded them off to southern regions, allegedly in vast numbers. The Christianization of Arvidsjaur Municipality was slow, as it was in Norrland as a whole, because of the low population, the harsh climate and the long distances. Norrbotten County
Norrbotten County ( sv, Norrbottens län; se, Norrbottena leatna, fi, Norrbottenin lääni) is the northernmost county or '' län'' of Sweden. It is also the largest county by land area, almost a quarter of Sweden's total area. It shares borders with Västerbotten County to the southwest, the Gulf of Bothnia to the southeast, the counties of Nordland and Troms og Finnmark in Norway to the northwest, and Lapland Province in Finland to the northeast. The name "Norrbotten" is also used for a province of the same name. Arjeplog
Arjeplog (; Pite Sami: ) is a locality and the seat of Arjeplog Municipality in Norrbotten County, province of Lapland, Sweden with 1,977 inhabitants in 2010. It is a popular winter test site for the Asian and European car industries and featured on an episode of the British TV show ''Top Gear''. Arjeplog has in the past offered families 100,000 kronor, or individuals 25,000 kronor to move to the town. Climate Arjeplog has a subarctic climate ( Dfc) typical of northern Sweden. Its winters are somewhat moderated by the mild maritime North Atlantic air to the west, although they are still very cold, long and snowy. Arjeplog Municipality (Swedish: ''Arjeplogs kommun'', sme, Arjepluovvi gielda; sje, Árjepluove komuvdna) is a municipality in Norrbotten County in northern Sweden. Its seat is located in Arjeplog.
