La Cambre
L'École nationale supérieure des arts visuels de La Cambre (ENSAV), more known as La Cambre, is a renowned visual arts school founded by Henry van de Velde in Brussels in 1926. It was founded as the ''Institut supérieur des Arts décoratifs'' (''Hoger Instituut voor Decoratieve Kunsten''), and became known as "La Cambre" after the Abbey of la Cambre/Ter Kameren in which premises it was established. In 1980, La Cambre was divided into two separate institutions, the ''École nationale supérieure des Arts visuels'' (ENSAV), and the ''Institut supérieur d'Architecture de la Communauté française de Belgique'' (ISACF). Both institutions belong to the French Community of Belgium. ENSAV is still housed at the abbey while the ISACF stopped existing in 2009, when all architecture schools integrated universities, and the ISACF merged with two other institutes into the Université libre de Bruxelles. Henry Van De Velde
Henry Clemens van de Velde (; 3 April 1863 – 15 October 1957) was a Belgian painter, architect, interior designer, and art theorist. Together with Victor Horta and Paul Hankar, he is considered one of the founders of Art Nouveau in Belgium.'''' He worked in Paris with Samuel Bing, the founder of the first gallery of Art Nouveau in Paris. Van de Velde spent the most important part of his career in Germany and became a major figure in the German Jugendstil. He had a decisive influence on German architecture and design at the beginning of the 20th century. La Cambre Abbey (french: Abbaye de La Cambre, ) or Ter Kameren Abbey ( nl, Abdij Ter Kameren) is a former Cistercian abbey in the City of Brussels, Belgium. It is located in the Maelbeek valley between the Bois de la Cambre/Ter Kamerenbos and the Ixelles Ponds. The abbey church is a Catholic parish of the Archdiocese of Mechelen–Brussels and home to a community of Norbertine canons, while other parts of the monastery house the headquarters of the Belgian National Geographic Institute and La Cambre, a prestigious visual arts school. Marine Serre
Marine Serre (born December 13, 1991) is a French fashion designer who won the 2017 LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers. Early life Serre was born in Brive-la-Gaillarde nearby Corrèze, France. She studied in Marseille and after two years she moved to Belgium, to attend La Cambre, from where she graduated with high honours in 2016. Career Serre's graduation show "Radical Call For Love" in 2016 sparked the interest of international stores such as The Broken Arm and Dover Street Market. Berthe Dubail
Berthe Dubail (1911-1984) born in Leval-Trahégnies near Binche was a Belgian painter. Biography Berthe Dubail studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Mons, and at the workshop of La Cambre in Brussels dedicated to monumental painting, she further worked in Paris, at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in the free workshops. In parallel to her artistic research, she became a professor in Mons and then in Brussels, and developed a new method of teaching that awakened and respected the spontaneity and spirit of discovery of the student. After an early expressionist and figurative period from 1945 to 1956, she turned to a more abstract style. Olivier Strebelle
Olivier Strebelle (20 January 1927 – 29 July 2017) was a Belgian sculptor. Strebelle was born in Brussels, Belgium on 20 January 1927. His monumental (usually bronze) sculptures adorn many public places in Brussels as well as in Germany, Israel, Italy, Russia, Singapore, Switzerland, and the United States. Strebelle was a prolific artist for more than 65 years, and his works are found in private collections and public settings around the world. Anthony Vaccarello (born 18 January 1982) is an Italian fashion designer and current creative director at Saint Laurent. Prior to this position, he was creative director at Versus Versace.
