Kidskin
Kidskin or kid leather is a type of soft, thin leather that is traditionally used for gloves (hence the phrase ' kid gloves,' used since at least 1888 as a metaphor for careful handling). It is widely used for other fashion purposes such as footwear and clothing. Kidskin is traditionally made from goatskin - more specifically, the skin of young goats (or 'kids'), although equivalent leathers such as lambskin and chickenskin (actually a form of calfskin) give the same effect. Usage Kid leather is, and has been used for a number of purposes other than gloves and footwear. Early flexible hair rollers were sometimes made from kidskin, giving a very tight curl. Papermaking While vellum is often made using calfskin, kidskin can also be used and in some cases, was preferred. David Laurent de Lara, describing himself as illuminating artist to Queen Victoria, favoured Italian kid vellum for his work. A form of early medieval parchment, called ''carta lustra'', acting as tracing paper w ...

Grace Under Pressure (Rush Album)
''Grace Under Pressure'' is the tenth studio album by Canadian rock band Rush, released April 12, 1984 on Anthem Records. After touring for the band's previous album, ''Signals'' (1982), came to an end in mid-1983, Rush started work on a follow-up in August. The band had decided to not work with longtime producer Terry Brown, who had collaborated with Rush since 1974. The new material accentuated the group's change in direction towards a synthesizer-oriented sound like its previous album. After some difficulty finding a suitable producer who could commit, the album was recorded with Peter Henderson. ''Grace Under Pressure'' reached number 4 in Canada, number 5 in the UK, and number 10 on the U.S. ''Billboard'' 200. It was certified platinum in the U.S. for selling one million copies. Background and recording In July 1983, Rush ended its 1982–1983 tour of North America and the UK in support of its previous album, ''Signals'' (1982). The group reconvened in mi ...

Fresh Evidence
''Fresh Evidence'' is Rory Gallagher's eleventh and last studio album, his fourteenth album overall. The album was unusual in that Gallagher used more additional musicians and spent more time recording than he normally did. Not as unusual, the songs show his love for blues artists such as Robert Johnson and Son House and for other genres such as Zydeco as well. The album is influenced by his deteriorating health, and explores themes of ill health, mortality, and fighting back against overwhelming odds. Background After the release of the album, Gallagher gave several interviews where he went into some detail about the songs and his way of making music. He emphasized how he modeled his music after folk and blues legends such as Muddy Waters. "So this folk music tradition of passing on, picking up, and stealing goes on like mad! If I'm doing a blues number I can do it very traditional if I want to; I can also add my own twists to it." Gallagher said that the song "Heaven's Gate" i ...

He states that the band recorded a "dance record": "I suppose it's in that kind of TV On The Radio vibe, you know, lots of grooves and beats – I'm playing keyboard live on here, I don’t really play any guitars in this band which really helps to keep me out of that usual comfort zone." The album entered the UK Albums Chart at #14, and includes the singles: "Kid Gloves", " Rubber Lover" and "Silhouettes". Background ''Duke Pandemonium'', the second instalment of Marmaduke Duke's planned trilogy of albums, was recorded soon after '' The Magnificent Duke''.
