IBuy
iBuy was a British satellite-based home shopping channel. Created & launched on 18 April 2005, by Andy Sheldon, who was one of George Spitaliotis's senior management figures at Auction World.tv and also created their sister channel Chase-It.tv. iBuy launched from the ex-AuctionWorld studio at Teddington Studios, Broom Road, Teddington. It was later relocated in early 2006, to Studio 1, Unit 1A, Hogarth Business Park, Burlington Lane, Chiswick, London. iBuy operates as a falling price auction channel, similar to that of the 'original' auction shopping channel idea used by bid TV, price-drop TV, and airs between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM, 7 days a week on Sky. Steven Rae "Steve" Whatley (11 July 1959 – 7 November 2005) known as 'Gadget Man', 'Mr Diamonique', 'Whatters' and 'Mr Zhuzh!', was a British theatre actor, consumer expert, journalist, and television presenter. Early career Whatley spent seven years acting in London's West End Theatre. He soon later Britain's first male grooming expert with his own male grooming page in ''She'' Magazine. Paul Lavers (born 1950) is a British film, television and stage actor. He has been a presenter for Anglia television and for several shopping channels. Early life and career Paul Lavers was born in Bristol in 1950, the son of Josephine (née Richards) and Frank Lavers. He was born with an esophageal condition that prevented him from eating solid food, and underwent surgery at 16 to repair it. Lavers gained his first acting experience while attending St. Brendan's College in Bristol. For about three years from the age of 11 he had a role in the BBC Radio Children's’ serial ''The Adventures of Clara Chuff''. On leaving St. Brendan's Lavers trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School where a fellow student was Pete Postlethwaite. It began its operations in October 2004 in the UK, and then expanded to Germany, America, Japan and China. Ideal World is a British TV shopping channel, broadcasting on Freeview, Satellite, Cable and online, with transactional websites, broadcast from studios in Peterborough. History Ideal World has its origins in the 1980s as a mail order company selling products via national press adverts and consumer exhibitions. The company was then called Wrightway Marketing and was run by Paul Wright and his business partner Val Kaye. Ideal World launched on 17 April 2000 on digital satellite from studios in Peterborough. Bid Plus (formerly Speed Auction) was a British television shopping channel owned by Bid Shopping. The channel ceased broadcast on 1 July 2013. History The channel launched as speedauction on 27 July 2005, replacing the original Screenshop 2 channel. The channel broadcast between 8am and 1am. Live rising price auctions were only available Wednesday to Sunday between 4pm to 8pm and 9pm to midnight. Pre-recorded auctions were available the remainder of the time. Between 13 October 2009 and 17 January 2012, the channel was also available on the Freesat platform. Sit-Up Ltd., traded as Bid Shopping, was an English broadcaster which launched in 2000. It operated a portfolio of falling price shopping television channels to over 12 million homes in the UK. History On 1 April 2009, it was announced that Sit-Up Ltd had been sold by Virgin Media to Aurelius AG. The purchase price or terms of the agreement have not been disclosed. Virgin Media had previously owned the company – this followed partial ownership prior to May 2005. Bid Shopping ran the channels Bid and Price Drop each day from 7:45am through to 1:30am. QVC UK is a television shopping channel broadcast from the United Kingdom to the United Kingdom and Ireland. It was formed in 1993 when QVC, Inc. agreed to a deal with Sky TV to create a UK version of the US channel. "QVC – The Shopping Channel" first broadcast in the UK on 1 October 1993. Revelation TV is a UK Protestant Christian television channel started by Howard and Lesley Conder in 2003. It broadcasts on Freesat channel 692, Freeview HD channel 264, Sky channel 581, the Roku box and is also available online on iOS and Android devices, Apple TV, Samsung and LG Smart TVs. The channel is based in Spain, with a small studio and office in England. History Howard Conder (an ex-Jehovah's Witness) and his wife Lesley began the TV station in 2003 by forming a private company and remortgaging their home to put their own money into it.
