The following is a list of notable albums with controversial album art, especially where that controversy resulted in the album being banned, censored or sold in packaging other than the original one. The album was later reissued with Cooper's entire right arm airbrushed out of the photograph. * Arca – ''Xen'' (2014) ** The album cover shows a computer-generated androgynous alter-ego named Xen. With her head tilted back, Xen displays her broad shoulders, breasts, and large hips on the album cover with her skin rippling "as if about to peel and fall off". The Vertigo Of Bliss
''The Vertigo of Bliss'' is the second studio album by British rock band Biffy Clyro. Produced with the band by Chris Sheldon, it was released by Beggars Banquet Records on 16 June 2003. The album reached number 48 on the UK Albums Chart, and spawned four singles. A deluxe remastered edition was released in 2012, which featured, in addition to the original 13 album tracks, a number of B-sides from the album's singles. Cover artwork The album cover for ''The Vertigo of Bliss'' was designed by comic book artist Milo Manara. Despite raising some controversy, the artwork was praised by music magazine ''ShortList'' who named it in their list of "The 50 Coolest Album Covers Ever", explaining that the "erotic and controversial" cover "only endeared iffymore to the small but loyal fanbase they were beginning to cultivate". Blind Faith (Blind Faith Album)
''Blind Faith'' is the only studio album by the English supergroup Blind Faith, originally released in 1969 on Polydor Records in the United Kingdom and Europe and on ATCO Records in the United States. It topped the album charts in the UK, Canada and US, and was listed at No. 40 on the US Soul Albums chart. It has been certified platinum by the RIAA. Background The band contained two-thirds of the popular power trio Cream, in Ginger Baker and Eric Clapton, working in collaboration with British star Steve Winwood of the Spencer Davis Group and Traffic, along with Ric Grech of Family. They began to work out songs early in 1969, and in February and March the group was at Morgan Studios in London, preparing for the beginnings of basic tracks for their album, although the first few almost-finished songs did not show up until they were at Olympic Studios in April and May under the direction of producer Jimmy Miller. Blind Faith
Blind Faith were an English supergroup featuring Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, and Ric Grech. They were eagerly anticipated by the music press following on the success of each of the member's former bands, including Clapton and Baker's former group Cream and Winwood's former group Traffic, but they split after a few months, producing only one album and a three-month long summer tour. The group originated with informal jamming by Clapton and Winwood in early 1969 following the break-ups of Cream and Traffic. Baker joined them in rehearsals and they decided to form a group. Grech joined as the fourth member from the band Family in May, and they began recording their eponymous debut album. It drew controversy for featuring a photograph of a topless 11-year-old girl on the front cover, and it was issued with a different cover in the United States. ''Hustler'' is a monthly pornographic magazine published by Larry Flynt Publications (LFP) in the United States. Pubic hair is terminal body hair that is found in the genital area of adolescent and adult humans. ''Amorica'' (stylized as ''amorica.'') is the third studio album by American rock band The Black Crowes. Spawned from the band's unreleased, incompleted, scrapped ''Tall'' album, ''Amorica'' was released November 1, 1994, on American Recordings and reissued in the UK in 1998 with two bonus tracks. ''Amorica'' reached gold status in the United States, shipping 500,000 copies. The record cover notably featured a close-up photo of the pelvic region of a woman wearing a United States flag thong with pubic hair showing at the top of the thong. The cover photo was taken from the cover of the July 1976 issue of ''Hustler'' magazine. The album with this cover was subsequently banned from chain stores like Walmart and Kmart, resulting in the cover being censored with a solid black background, displaying only the thong. The Black Crowes
The Black Crowes are an American rock band formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1984. Their discography includes eight studio albums, four live albums and several charting singles. The band was signed to Def American Recordings in 1989 by producer George Drakoulias and released their debut album, '' Shake Your Money Maker'', the following year. Their follow-up, '' The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion'', reached the top of the ''Billboard'' 200 in 1992. Maurilio Manara (; born 12 September 1945), known professionally as Milo Manara, is an Italian comic book writer and artist. Career After architecture and painting studies, he made his comics debut in 1969 drawing for ''Genius'', a Fumetti neri series of pocket books from publisher Furio Vanio in the wake of the popularity of '' Kriminal'' and ''Satanik''.
