Hed PE
Hed PE (also known as (hed) Planet Earth and stylized as (həd) p.e. or as (Hed)pe or (Hed)PE) or (həd) Planetary Evolution, is an American rock band from Huntington Beach, California. Formed in 1994, the band is known for its eclectic genre-crossing style, predominately in the fusion of gangsta rap and punk rock it has termed "G-punk", but also for its reggae-fused music. After releasing three albums on Jive Records, Hed PE left the label to record independently. Hed PE was signed with Suburban Noize Records from 2006 until 2010. Since 2014, the band has been signed with Pavement Music. Since 2006, the band has become known for its involvement in the 9/11 Truth movement, referencing it in many of their song lyrics and concerts, as well as the concept of the album '' New World Orphans''. Alfunction
Alfunction (born Alan Leonard James; June 9, 1972 in Costa Mesa, California), is an American guitarist. His stage name was bestowed upon him in 1994, by future bandmate Lauren Boquette, in reference to his band at the time, "Malfunction". He played guitar as a founding member of Six, from its beginning in 2001, until its disbanding in 2010. He was previously a hired guitarist for Cypress Hill during the '' Skull and Bones'' tours, making his debut U.S. performance for the band while playing keyboard on the Conan O'Brien show. Alfunction went on to play guitar for Cypress Hill until July 2000, when he toured with Famous on the Tattoo the Earth festival. In late 2010, he performed with Killing Joke, taking over bass guitar duties for original bassist Martin Glover on the North American tour in support of the Absolute Dissent Album. The ''Sarasota Herald-Tribune'' is a daily newspaper, located in Sarasota, Florida, founded in 1925 as the ''Sarasota Herald''. History The newspaper was owned by The New York Times Company from 1982 to 2012. It was then owned by Halifax Media Group from 2012 to 2015, when New Media Investment Group acquired Halifax. New World Orphans
''New World Orphans'' is the seventh studio album by American punk rock band Hed PE. Released on January 13, 2009, it is the band's fourth album on Suburban Noize. Music and lyrics ''New World Orphans'' was influenced by Suicidal Tendencies and Minor Threat. The album's sound fuses heavy metal, hip hop and punk rock; it also includes elements of hardcore punk, funk and reggae. The album's lyrics derive from the 9/11 Truth movement, criticism of George W. Bush, the existence of extraterrestrial life, the economy and the Iraq War. Background Hed PE had been working on the album since before the release of '' The D.I.Y. Gangsta Rap
Gangsta rap or gangster rap, initially called reality rap, emerged in the mid- to late 1980s as a controversial hip-hop subgenre whose lyrics assert the culture and values typical of American street gangs and street hustlers.
