Vladimir Vladimirovich Mazur (russian: Владимир Владимирович Мазур; born 19 June 1966) is a Russian statesman, who is currently serving as the 3rd governor of Tomsk Oblast in since 22 September 2022. Mazur was born in 1966 in Krutolozhnoye, Pervomaysky District, Tomsk Oblast. In 1992 he graduated from Tomsk State University. He worked as a lawyer in various enterprises of Tomsk, Kemerovo and Moscow. From 2004 to 2007 Vladimir Mazur served as deputy mayor of Tomsk for information policy, chairman of the public relations committee of the city administration. Tomsk Oblast (russian: То́мская о́бласть, ''Tomskaya oblast'') is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast). It lies in the southeastern West Siberian Plain, in the southwest of the Siberian Federal District. Its administrative center is the city of Tomsk. Population: 1,078,923 (1,047,394 ( 2010 Census)). The development of the territory which now constitutes the oblast began in the early 17th century. Tomsk itself was founded in 1604. Viktor Melkhiorovich Kress (russian: Виктор Мельхиорович Кресс; born 16 November 1948) is a Russian politician. He is best known for serving five terms as governor of Tomsk Oblast, Russia from 1991 to 2012. Biography Kress was born into a peasant family with five brothers and a sister. Both of his parents were ethnic Germans. During his education he also worked on the farm at the village of Yashkino in Kemerovo Oblast. Kress graduated from Novosibirsk Agricultural Institute in 1971 as an agricultural economist and worked as an agronomist in Siberia eventually becoming head of the Rodina Sovkhoz near Tomsk. In 1987, he rose to the position of First Secretary of the CPSU committee of Pervomayskoye rayon, Tomsk Oblast. In 1990, Kress was elected and served as speaker of the Tomsk Oblast Soviet.
