GREE
GREE (derived from an abbreviation of the "Six degrees of separation" concept) is a Japanese social networking service founded by Yoshikazu Tanaka and operated by GREE, Inc. GREE focuses primarily on mobile games and over ninety percent of its users access the site via their mobile phones. The company makes money by selling virtual goods to users such as clothes for their in-game avatars. Social networking features of GREE include the user profile, diary, communities, photo sharing and photo emailing. It serves as a platform for promoting communication and mutual understanding among its members. While GREE was initially available only to PC users, the service was later extended to feature phone users. Yoshikazu Tanaka
is a Japanese entrepreneur known for founding and developing the social networking service Gree, provided by Gree, Inc., Gree, Inc. Yoshikazu Tanaka was born in Mitaka City, Mitaka, Tokyo in 1977. When Tanaka was a junior high school student, Tanaka became keenly interested in changes in society by informatization and the field of information-communication by reading “Powershift: Knowledge, Wealth and Violence at the Edge of the 21st Century, Power Shift” by Alvin Toffler. Ensemble Girls!
is a series of Japanese social network games developed by Happy Elements K.K. The games are all collectible card games with visual novel elements, mainly written by Japanese novelist Akira. It was first launched as a GREE game in November 2012, and was released for Android and iOS devices in 2013. Service for the original version was terminated in 2015. The game was revised and re-released as in October 2016. Service for ''Ensemble Girls!!'' was planned to end in November 2017, but this was pushed back to February 2018. Six Degrees Of Separation
Six degrees of separation is the idea that all people are six or fewer social connections away from each other. As a result, a chain of "friend of a friend" statements can be made to connect any two people in a maximum of six steps. It is also known as the six handshakes rule. The concept was originally set out in a 1929 short story by Frigyes Karinthy, where a group of people play a game trying to connect any person in the world to themselves by a chain of five others.
