Gauntlet (1985 Video Game)
''Gauntlet'' is a 1985 fantasy-themed hack-and-slash arcade game developed and released by Atari Games. It is noted as being one of the first multiplayer dungeon crawl arcade games. The core design of ''Gauntlet'' comes from 1983 Atari 8-bit dungeon crawl game ''Dandy'', which resulted in a threat of legal action. It also bears striking similarities to the action-adventure maze game '' Time Bandit'' (1983). ''Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Gauntlet III'' is the 15th season of the MTV reality game show, '' The Challenge'' (at the time known as ''Real World/Road Rules Challenge''). Being the third in ''The Gauntlet'' series, ''The Gauntlet III'' marked the show's 2nd trilogy (''Inferno III'' is the first), continuing on from '' The Gauntlet'' (7th season) and '' The Gauntlet 2'' (11th season). Gauntlet Dark Legacy
''Gauntlet Dark Legacy'' is an arcade video game released in 1999. It is the sixth title in the '' Gauntlet'' series, and is an expansion of the previous title in the series, '' Gauntlet Legends''. The expansion adds five new levels, and four new character classes: Dwarf, Knight, Jester, and Sorceress. It also adds a large number of secret characters, some of which can be unlocked in the game, while others are only accessible by entering specific cheat codes. Elements from ''Dark Legacy'' were integrated into the Dreamcast port of ''Gauntlet Legends''. A direct port to the PlayStation 2 was released in 2001, followed by versions for the Game Boy Advance, GameCube, and Xbox released in 2002. A Game Boy Color port was considered but never released by Midway. ''Gauntlet II'' is a 1986 arcade game produced by Atari Games that serves as the immediate sequel to the original '' Gauntlet'', which was released the previous year. Like its predecessor, ''Gauntlet II'' is a fantasy-themed top down dungeon crawler game and was released as a dedicated cabinet, as well as a conversion kit, both available in 2-player and 4-player versions. Gameplay ''Gauntlet II'' is essentially an expanded version of the original '' Gauntlet''. Like in the original game, there are four character classes to play as, with the choices being Warrior, Valkyrie, Wizard and Elf. The main difference from the original game is that multiple players can now choose to play as the same character class. It is a fantasy themed hack and slash styled dungeon crawl game, a sequel to 1985's popular '' Gauntlet'' and 1986's '' Gauntlet II'' and marks the final game in the series to be produced by Atari Games.
