Four Minute Mile
''Four Minute Mile'' is the debut studio album by American rock band The Get Up Kids. Background The Get Up Kids evolved out of the breakup of Kingpin, which consisted of high school friends guitarist Jim Suptic, bassist Rob Pope and his brother drummer Ryan Pope. After that group's demise, vocalist/guitarist Matt Pryor formed Secret Decoder Ring with Suptic,Sharpe-Young 2005, p. 317 before they broke up after a six months. Pryor and Suptic started working with Rob Pope, who invited college friend drummer Nathan Shay to form The Get Up Kids in 1994. Following this, the group self financed the 7" single " Shorty", which would sell over 2,000 copies. Shay moved to St. Louis, Missouri to focus on his studies, eventually leaving the group in April 1996. Ryan Pope joined initially on a temporary basis as there was concern with having both brothers in the band, and with Suptic and Pope not getting along in the past. The Get Up Kids
The Get Up Kids are an American rock band from Olathe, Kansas. Formed in 1995, the band was a major player in the mid-1990s Midwest emo scene, otherwise known as the " second wave" of emo music. Their second album '' Something to Write Home About'' remains their most widely acclaimed album, and is considered to be one of the quintessential albums of the second-wave emo movement. They are considered forefathers of the emo genre, and have been widely credited as being an influence, both with contemporaries like Saves The Day and later bands like Fall Out Boy, Taking Back Sunday and The Wonder Years. ''The Rolling Stone Album Guide'', previously known as ''The Rolling Stone Record Guide'', is a book that contains professional music reviews written and edited by staff members from ''Rolling Stone'' magazine. Its first edition was published in 1979 and its last in 2004. The guide can be seen at Rate Your Music, while a list of albums given a five star rating by the guide can be seen at Rocklist.net. First edition (1979) ''The Rolling Stone Record Guide'' was the first edition of what would later become ''The Rolling Stone Album Guide''. ''Ox-Fanzine'' is a monthly punk zine from Solingen, Germany, founded in 1988. It is edited by Joachim Hiller and has had many contributors. Besides its focus on punk subculture, it also covers similar genres, reviews of comics, books and films, and has included serial novels by authors such as Klaus N. Frick. By 2019, ''Ox'' had a circulation of 10,000 copies. History ''Ox-Fanzine'' was founded in 1988 by Joachim Hiller and Biggi Häußler in Heidenheim an der Brenz (Southern Germany). Its first issue was published in January 1989. The zine was named after the cat of Häußler, which appeared on the first cover. After some time, ''Ox'' merged with the zine ''Faces the Facts'' and was joined by its editor Thomas Hähnel, but eventually Häußler and Hähnel left it to focus on other endeavours, leaving Hiller as the only editor. James Dewees
James Matthew Dewees (born March 13, 1976) is an American musician best known for his work with The Get Up Kids, Reggie and the Full Effect and My Chemical Romance. He has also been involved in other musical projects including New Found Glory, Coalesce, Leathermouth, and Death Spells. History Early life and Coalesce Dewees graduated from Liberty High School in Liberty, Missouri in 1994. He started college at William Jewell College in Liberty later transferring to the University of Missouri to study music composition. In 1995, he was asked to replace Sean Ingram as vocalist for the Kansas City hardcore band Coalesce. This angered Ingram, and caused a fight that eventually broke the band up. Jimmy Eat World is an American rock band formed in 1993 in Mesa, Arizona. No Knife
No Knife was a band from San Diego, California. They played an innovative form of rock that combined aspects of math rock, post-hardcore, and other indie rock. The band's original lineup was Mitch Wilson (vocals/guitar), Brian Desjean (bass), Aaron Mancini (guitar/vocals), and Ike Zaremba (drums). Prior to their second full-length, the band replaced Mancini with Ryan Ferguson (guitar/vocals). After their first and second full-lengths, '' Drunk on the Moon'' (1996) and '' Hit Man Dreams'' (1997), Chris Prescott was enlisted to play drums. Mineral (band)
Mineral is an American emo band originally from Houston, Texas. Soon after their formation, they relocated to Austin. All four members of Mineral were signed to Interscope Records on individual contracts. After disbanding in 1998, its members worked on other musical projects, including The Gloria Record, Pop Unknown, and Zookeeper. In 2010, a compilation CD of all the band's songs (except for "Sadder Star") was released in Japan, entitled ''TheCompleteCollection''. Mineral announced a reunion tour on April 24, 2014.
