First Interracial Kiss On Television
The date and program of the first interracial kiss on television is a much debated topic. In many parts of the world social stigma and legislation (such as anti-miscegenation laws) have hindered Interracial marriage, relations between people from different groups (Race (human categorization), races). The first kiss on television has been discussed in the context of this social stigma. As there is no agreement on Race (human categorization)#Defining race, what constitutes a race there is also no general agreement on when the first interracial kiss occurred and a number of claims exist. Nichelle Nichols (, born Grace Dell Nichols; December 28, 1932 – July 30, 2022) was an American actress, singer, and dancer best known for her portrayal of Nyota Uhura in ''Star Trek'' and its film sequels. Robert Martin Culp (August 16, 1930 – March 24, 2010) was an American actor widely known for his work in television.
