Electronic music is a genre of music that employs electronic musical instruments, digital instruments, or circuitry-based music technology in its creation. Röyksopp
Röyksopp (), a Norwegian electronic music duo from Tromsø formed in 1998. The duo consists of Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland. Berge and Brundtland were introduced to each other through a mutual friend in Tromsø, Norway. They enjoyed the same films and music, and shared an interest in electronics. The two experimented with various forms of electronic music, and bought a drum machine together during the Tromsø techno scene before going their separate ways. Several years later, the two met up again and formed Röyksopp during the Bergen Wave. After experimenting with different genres of electronic music, the band solidified their place in the electronica scene with their 2001 debut album, ''Melody A.M.'', released on the Wall of Sound record label. Ewan Pearson (born 1 April 1972) is an English electronic music producer/remixer who works under various aliases including Maas, Sulky Pup, Villa America, World of Apples, and Dirtbox. Mocky (born October 7, 1974) is a Canadian singer, music producer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and composer. Biography Mocky was born Dominic Salole in Saskatchewan, Canada. Kris Menace
Kris Menace (born Christoph Hoeffel) is a German electronic musician and music producer. History Christophe Hoeffel began to work as a producer and writer in the mid-1990s for different projects and started using the pseudonym "Kris Menace" in 2005. Menace's debut single "Discopolis" (in collaboration with his friend Lifelike) was released on Alan Braxe's label Vulture Music in 2005. "Discopolis" was later picked up by Defected Records and re-released with various remixes (such as that of Kerri Chandler) and a video directed by Seb Janiak. is a Japanese DJ, record producer and musician. Biography A lifelong student of jazz and classical piano, Satoshi had an influential impact from his very first record. His debut single ‘Tears’, which he co-produced in 1989 with Chicago's ‘Godfather of House’ Frankie Knuckles, was an instant club hit. Black Strobe
Black Strobe (sometimes Blackstrobe) is an electroclash group formed in Paris in 1997 by record producer Arnaud Rebotini and DJ Ivan Smagghe. They were instrumental in the rise of the electroclash movement in the UK with their breakthrough single "Me and Madonna". Originally producing in the house genre, they later became more influenced by music from the 1970s and 1980s, especially industrial post punk and European electronic body music. Fabric (club)
Fabric (stylized as fabric) is a nightclub in Farringdon, London, England. Founded in 1999 on Charterhouse Street opposite Smithfield Market, the club was voted World Number 1 Club in DJ Magazine's "Top 100 Clubs Poll" in 2007 and 2008 and ranked World Number 2 in 2009, 2010 and 2017. Fabric was closed down and its licence was revoked by Islington Council in 2016, after two drug-related deaths at the club. Following a campaign to save the club it was permitted to be reopened with increased security and restrictions. History The club was founded by Keith Reilly and Cameron Leslie and opened on 29 October 1999. Fabric occupied the renovated space of the Metropolitan Cold Stores. Fabric Mix Albums
From November 2001 to November 2018, the London nightclub fabric ran a monthly mix compilation series. Mixed by a variety of emerging and established DJs, the two series were entitled ''fabric'' and ''FABRICLIVE'' respectively. The compilation mixes were released independently by fabric on an alternating monthly basis. In May 2018, fabric announced that the ''fabric'' series would end "in its current form" with its 100th instalment; in October 2018, fabric revealed the final ''fabric'' compilation would be a triple-disc set, mixed by two of the club's residents— Craig Richards and Terry Francis—as well as its founder, Keith Reilly. In August 2018, the club announced that the ''FABRICLIVE'' series would also end with its 100th instalment, and would be mixed by Kode 9—founder of the celebrated underground electronic music label, Hyperdub—and Burial—a pioneering UK dubstep producer. ''XLR8R'' (pronounced "accelerator") is a website that covers music, culture, style, and technology. It was originally also a print magazine.
