Els Guiamets
Els Guiamets is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of the Priorat in Catalonia, Spain. It is situated in the south of the ''comarca''. A local road links the village to the N-420 road between Falset and Móra la Nova. The Guiamets reservoir is on an affluent of the Siurana (Tarragona). Tivissa is a municipality in the '' comarca'' of Ribera d'Ebre, Catalonia, Spain. It is located below the La Llena massif. As well as the village of Tivissa itself, the municipality also includes the village of La Serra d'Almos, at the feet of the Montalt mountains, and the hamlets of Darmós and Llaberia. History The area was settled in prehistoric times, and cave paintings have been discovered in several sites near the village. In Iberian times, Tivissa was an important community, and the name itself may be of Iberian origin. There are the remains of an Iberian settlement at Banyoles, some five kilometres from the modern village and overlooking the Ebre river. The importance of these settlements was surely related to their position on the route through the pass of Coll de Fatxes, leading from the coast of Tarragona to what is now Zaragoza. Ravensbrück () was a German concentration camp exclusively for women from 1939 to 1945, located in northern Germany, north of Berlin at a site near the village of Ravensbrück (part of Fürstenberg/Havel). The camp memorial's estimated figure of 132,000 women who were in the camp during the war includes about 48,500 from Poland, 28,000 from the Soviet Union, almost 24,000 from Germany and Austria, nearly 8,000 from France, and thousands from other countries including a few from the United Kingdom and the United States. Neus Català i Pallejà (6 October 1915 – 13 April 2019) was a member of the Unified Socialist Party of Catalonia (Catalan: ''Partit Socialista Unificat de Catalunya'', PSUC) during the Spanish Civil War and was a survivor of the concentration camp of Ravensbrück. She is one of many Catalans (both men and women) who survived internment in the Nazi concentration camp system. Biography Neus Català was born on 6 October 1915 in Els Guiamets, Tarragona, Catalonia. However, her godmother officially registered her birth on 15 June that year, because of the disappearance of the documentation of the Municipality of Barcelona after the Spanish Civil War. Català moved to Barcelona at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War and obtained her nursing degree.
