The electoral district of Tarneit is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It was created before the 2002 Victorian state election, 2002 election where it replaced the seat of Electoral district of Werribee, Werribee. The seat is located in the south western suburbs of Melbourne, including Tarneit, Victoria, Tarneit, Williams Landing, Victoria, Williams Landing, Truganina, Victoria, Truganina and the eastern parts of Hoppers Crossing, Victoria, Hoppers Crossing. It is a safe seat for the Australian Labor Party (Victorian Branch), Labor Party with a current margin of 14.6%. The first member for the seat, elected in 2002, was Mary Gillett, formerly member for abolished electoral district of Werribee, Werribee. The electoral district of Werribee is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria. It has existed in two incarnations, first from 1976 to 2002, and was created again in the 2013 redistribution and came into effect at the 2014 state election. Based on the rapidly growing outer south west suburbs of Melbourne, it takes in areas from Tarneit and Lara. Electoral District Of Derrimut
Derrimut was an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It was located in the western suburbs of Melbourne and contained the suburbs of Albion, Derrimut as well as parts of St Albans and Sunshine. It was first created in the redistribution undertaken before the 1985 election where it was easily won by the Labor Party's David Cunningham he held the seat until it was abolished before the 1992 election with Cunningham contesting and winning the seat of Melton. However the seat was re-established prior to the 2002 election where it was won by Telmo Languiller whose seat of Sunshine was abolished in the same redistribution. Derrimut was again abolished in 2014, with Languiller shifting to the seat of Tarneit. Telmo Languiller
Telmo Ramon Languiller-Tornesi (born 31 July 1957) is an Australian politician. He was a Labor Party member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1999 to 2018, representing the electorates of Sunshine (1999–2002), Derrimut (2002–2014) and Tarneit (2014–2018). From December 2014, he was Speaker of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, but was forced to resign in March 2017 for claiming a second house allowance. While entitled to the allowance, it failed the test of public opinion and Languiller was forced to repay the allowance by the Premier. He currently serves as Melbourne Victory FC's director of international relations. Steve Bracks
Stephen Phillip Bracks (born 15 October 1954) is a former Australian politician and was the 44th Premier of Victoria. He first won the electoral district of Williamstown in 1994 for the Labor Party and was party leader and premier from 1999 to 2007. Bracks led Labor in Victoria to minority government at the 1999 election, defeating the incumbent Jeff Kennett Liberal and National coalition government. Born in Sydney, New South Wales, she graduated from Young High School in 1974 and received a Bachelor of Arts from the Australian National University in 1979.
