Electoral District Of Werribee
The electoral district of Werribee is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria. It has existed in two incarnations, first from 1976 to 2002, and was created again in the 2013 redistribution and came into effect at the 2014 state election. Based on the rapidly growing outer south west suburbs of Melbourne, it takes in areas from Tarneit and Lara. It covers the suburbs of Werribee, Wyndham Vale, and the rural areas surrounding these suburbs to the south and west. Werribee, Victoria
Werribee is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, south-west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Wyndham local government area. Werribee recorded a population of 50,027 at the 2021 census. Werribee is situated on the Werribee River, approximately halfway between Melbourne and Geelong, on the Princes Highway. It is the administrative centre of the City of Wyndham local government area and is the City's most populous centre. Werribee is part of the Greater Melbourne metropolitan area and is included in the capital's population statistical division. In recent years, Werribee has undergone development which has seen the growth of high-rise buildings within the city centre. Neville Hudson
Neville Read Hudson (10 October 1923 – 29 July 1980) was an Australian politician. Early life and family Neville Hudson was born in Brighton to accountant William Read Hudson and Nellie Frances Marion Downe. He attended Brighton Grammar School, and from 1941 to 1945 was a heavy bomber pilot with the Royal Australian Air Force, receiving the Distinguished Service Cross. From 1945 to 1947 he worked with the CSIRO, and from 1948 ran a dry cleaning business in Werribee. On 19 December 1947 he married Valda Ellis, with whom he had three sons. He had a farm at Bega from 1964 to 1970, after which he returned to Werribee. Political career A member of the Liberal Party, he was a Werribee Shire Councillor from 1961 to 1964 and from 1971 to 1978, serving as president from 1975 to 1976. Electoral districts of Victoria are the electoral districts, commonly referred to as "seats" or "electorates", into which the Australian State of Victoria is divided for the purpose of electing members of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, one of the two houses of the Parliament of the State. The State is divided into 88 single-member districts. The Legislative Assembly has had 88 electorates since the 1985 election, increased from 81 previously. Mary Jane Gillett, ''née'' Douglas (born 9 October 1958) is a former Australian politician. Born in Sydney, New South Wales, she graduated from Young High School in 1974 and received a Bachelor of Arts from the Australian National University in 1979. That year, she became a clerk in the Australian Taxation Office; in 1982 she became associate to Mr N. Taylor of the Australian Industrial Relations Commission, and in 1985 became National Industrial Officer with the Commonwealth Foremans' Association. Ken Coghill
Kenneth Alistair Coghill (born 10 November 1944 in Mansfield, Victoria) is a former Australian politician. Life and career Educated at Caulfield Grammar School, Coghill studied Veterinary Science at the University of Melbourne and worked as a veterinarian before serving on the Wodonga City Council. He entered the Victorian Legislative Assembly as a Labor Party Member for Werribee in the 1979 State elections, and served as the Speaker of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1988 to 1992. Timothy Hugh Pallas (born 7 January 1960) is an Australian politician. He has been a Labor Party member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly since 2006, representing the electorate of Tarneit until 2014 and Werribee thereafter. Electoral District Of Lara
Lara is a seat in the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It covers much of the area between the western suburbs of Melbourne and the regional city of Geelong. Most of the voters come from the very northern suburbs of Geelong, including Lara, Bell Post Hill and Corio. The district also includes the country towns of Anakie, Balliang and Little River but these add very few voters to the district.
