Dalrymple was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland from 2009 to 2017. Geography Based in inland northern Queensland, Dalrymple was a north–south elongated electorate, running from the Atherton Tableland west of Cairns at its northern end, down to areas west of Mackay at its southern end. It was based on Charters Towers, and also included Moranbah, Atherton and Herberton. History Dalrymple was first created for the 2009 election from parts of the abolished electorates of Charters Towers and Tablelands. Originally proposed by the Electoral Commission of Queensland to be named ''Macrossan'', the name Dalrymple was adopted after further review. The district's first contest pitted two incumbent MPs against each other, with sitting Charters Towers MP Shane Knuth of the Liberal National Party defeating sitting Tablelands MP Rosa Lee Long, of One Nation. Dalrymple National Park
Dalrymple is a national park in Queensland, Australia, 1108 km northwest of Brisbane. The park has unique features such as ancient lava flows and the Burdekin River, the largest river in Queensland. This is the land of Gudjal Aboriginal people. Among the interesting animals can be found here, bridled nailtail wallaby, greater glider and koala. Rosa Therese Lee Long (née Schmid, born 2 October 1945) is a former member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland representing the electorate of Electoral district of Tablelands, Tablelands in Northern Queensland, Australia for the One Nation (Australia), One Nation Party. Lee Long served three consecutive terms in office between 2001 and 2009, making her One Nation's longest-serving politician. Prior to the 2009 Queensland state election, the electorate of Tablelands was abolished, and much of its territory was merged with neighbouring electoral district of Charters Towers, Charters Towers to form the new seat of Electoral district of Dalrymple, Dalrymple. Burdekin is an electoral district in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in the state of Queensland, Australia. Centred on the Ayr–Home Hill region, the electorate also includes some of Townsville's southern semi-rural localities as well as the coal-mining towns of Collinsville, Moranbah and Clermont. The Burdekin River flows through part of the electorate. History The 1949 redistribution abolished the electoral district of Bowen. Part of Bowen was combined with part of Mundingburra (which continued as an electorate, but more centred on Townsville) to create the new electoral district of Burdekin, centred on Ayr and Home Hill. Electoral District Of Hill
Hill is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. It was created in the 2017 redistribution, and first contested at the Queensland state election the same year. It was named after geologist Dorothy Hill. It is a new seat centered on the Atherton Tableland region, encompassing the coastal region around Innisfail, Tully and Babinda. It was created largely out of the northern portion of the abolished seat of Dalrymple. From results of the 2015 election, Hill was estimated to be a marginal seat for Katter's Australian Party with a margin of 4.9%. Shane Knuth, the last member for Dalrymple, transferred to Hill and retained it for KAP on a large swing. Traeger is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. It was created in the 2017 redistribution, and was named after Alfred Traeger, inventor of the pedal-powered radio, which was a significant contribution to people living in remote and rural communities in Queensland, such as those within Traeger. It takes in most of the urbanised portions of the abolished districts of Mount Isa and Dalrymple. It includes the local government areas of Burke, Doomadgee, Carpentaria, Croydon, Etheridge, Charters Towers, Mount Isa, Cloncurry, McKinlay, Richmond and Flinders. From results of the previous 2015 election, Traeger was estimated to be a safe seat for the Katter's Australian Party with a margin of 16.1%. 2015 Queensland State Election
The 2015 Queensland state election was held on 31 January 2015 to elect all 89 members of the unicameral Legislative Assembly of Queensland. The centre-right Liberal National Party (LNP), led by Premier Campbell Newman, attempted to win a second term but was defeated by the opposition centre-left Australian Labor Party (ALP), led by Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk. Labor formed a minority government with the support of the lone independent MP in the chamber, Peter Wellington. It is only the seventh change of government in Queensland since 1915, and only the third time since 1932 that a sitting government in the state has failed to win a second term. In Australian politics, the two-party-preferred vote (TPP or 2PP) is the result of an election or opinion poll after preferences have been distributed to the highest two candidates, who in some cases can be independents. For the purposes of TPP, the Liberal/National Coalition is usually considered a single party, with Labor being the other major party. Typically the TPP is expressed as the percentages of votes attracted by each of the two major parties, e.g. "Coalition 50%, Labor 50%", where the values include both primary votes and preferences. The TPP is an indicator of how much swing has been attained/is required to change the result, taking into consideration preferences, which may have a significant effect on the result.
