STEP Eiken
— informally, ; often called STEP Eiken or the STEP Test — is an English language test conducted by a Japanese public-interest incorporated foundation, the Eiken Foundation of Japan (formerly the Society for Testing English Proficiency, Inc. TEP, and backed by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Format and contents Eiken is a criterion-referenced test. There are seven levels that examinees either pass or fail. The levels (級 ''kyū'') are called ''grades'': Eiken is a four-skills test, assessing a combination of receptive and productive skills. Eiken (manga)
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Seiji Matsuyama. The story depicts the life of schoolboy Densuke Mifune after he is forced into the mysterious Eiken Club. The manga series ran for eighteen volumes, and additionally included a series guidebook. A number of radio drama episodes and a two episode OVA (the latter roughly based on a volume 3 storyline) have also been produced. The first twelve manga volumes have been released in North America. The first three volumes were rated 16+, while subsequent volumes were rated 18+. Plot Densuke has just enrolled at the exclusive Zashono Academy. He is very eager to participate in extracurricular activities, but never expected to join the mysterious Eiken Club. Eiken (High Alemannic: ''Äike'') is a municipality in the district of Laufenburg in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland. History The land was probably already occupied in the Roman era and individual objects from the Alamanni and Frankish Empire eras. Eiken is first mentioned in the first half of the 12th Century as ''Eitchon''. The municipality of Sisseln was originally an expansion of Eichen, and it remained part of the municipality until 1806, when it became independent. Under the Habsburgs, Eichen was the center of the bailiwick of Eichen. The municipality bought its own '' Twingherrschaft'', which gave it local self-rule and limited court rights, in the 16th century. Eiken belonged to the Austrian Fricktal until 1803 when it went to the newly formed canton of Aargau. Eiken is a village in Hægebostad municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located on the northern shore of the lake Lygne, about north of the municipal centre of Tingvatn. The village sits near the northern end of the Lyngdalen valley, about southeast of the village of Haddeland. There is some industry and agriculture as well as a good amount of tourism. Eiken Church ( no, Eiken kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Hægebostad Municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located along the lake Lygne in the village of Eiken. It is the church for the Eiken parish which is part of the Lister og Mandal prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, wooden church was built in a cruciform design in 1817 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 300 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1417, but the church was not built that year. It is not known when the church was originally built, but in a church inspection in 1725, the church was described as "old". In 1818, the old church was torn down and replaced with a new cruciform building on the same site as the previous building.
