Elling
''Elling'' is a Norwegian Black comedy film directed by Petter Næss. Shot mostly in and around the Norwegian capital Oslo, the film, which was released in 2001, is primarily based on Ingvar Ambjørnsen's novel ''Brødre i blodet'' ("Blood brothers", 1996), one of a series of four featuring the Elling character – the others are ''Utsikt til paradiset'' ("A view of paradise", 1993), ''Fugledansen'' ("The bird dance", 1995), and ''Elsk meg i morgen'' ("Love me tomorrow", 1999). The film was followed by an original prequel not based on any of the novels, ''Mors Elling'' (2003), and a sequel, ''Elsk meg i morgen'' (2005) based on the fourth and last book in the series. Plot The movie deals with the main character, Elling, a man in his 40s with generalized anxiety, and his struggle to function normally in society. Petter Næss (born 14 March 1960, Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian actor, screenwriter, instructor, and film director. He debuted in 1999 with ''Absolutt blåmandag'' and directed films based on Ingvar Ambjørnsen's ''Elling'' series, including ''Elling'' (2001) and '' Elsk meg i morgen'' (2005). He also directed films like ''Bare Bea'' (2003) and '' Mozart and the Whale'' (2005). In 2008, he portrayed Martin Linge in '' Max Manus:Man of War''. Ingvar Ambjørnsen
Ingvar Even Ambjørnsen-Haefs (born 20 May 1956) is a Norwegian writer. He is best known for his "Elling" tetralogy: ''Utsikt til paradiset'' (1993), ''Fugledansen'' (1995), ''Brødre i blodet'' (1996), and ''Elsk meg i morgen'' (1999). ''Brødre i blodet'' (''Brothers in blood'') is a Norwegian novel by Ingvar Ambjørnsen, published in 1996. Ambjørnsen received the Booksellers Prize for the publication. Svein Krøvel
Svein Krøvel (12 May 1946 – 29 December 2011) was a Norwegian cinematographer, known for his collaborations with director Knut Erik Jensen and Petter Næss. Krøvel worked on both documentaries and feature films. He started his feature film career in 1980. Since then he has been responsible for the photography of around 20 features, and collaborated with several of Norway's leading directors. Among the films Krøvel photographed and that have reached an international audience are ''Burnt by Frost'' (1997), ''Passing Darkness'' (2000) and ''Cool and Crazy (film), Cool and Crazy'' (2001), all of which were directed by Knut Erik Jensen. The latter film became a huge success in Norway. Krøvel also photographed Torun Lian's ''Only Clouds Move the Stars'' (1998), which was awarded the Ingmar Bergman prize in 1999.
