Droste B.V. () is a Dutch chocolate manufacturer. Its headquarters and factory are located in the village of Vaassen, Netherlands. Droste operates as an independent business unit within Hosta, a German confectionery company. History Droste was founded by Gerardus Johannes Droste in 1863 in the city of Haarlem. The company started as a confectionery business selling various types of candy, including the Droste chocolate pastilles that are still being sold today. Because of the growing reputation, the firm ''G.J. Droste'' opened its first factory in 1890. The entire chocolate making process took place in the same building as where the retail store was located. In 1891, the factory was relocated to the Spaarne river due to lack of room in the old building. This new location was favourable because the raw materials could now be delivered by boat. Henrico Drost (born 21 January 1987) is a Dutch footballer who plays as centre-back. Club career Born in Kampen, Drost started his senior career in 2005 with SC Heerenveen, where he was usually a bencher. Heerenveen loaned him out to Excelsior, De Graafschap and VVV-Venlo. In the summer of 2010 Drost signed a two-year contract with RKC Waalwijk after leaving Heerenveen on a free transfer. In the summer of 2013, Drost signed with NAC Breda for two seasons, to leave them for Excelsior on a free in 2015. Drost returned to RKC in the Eerste Divisie in the summer of 2017. In the summer of 2020, he switched to ASWH in the Tweede Divisie. In his first season, he played in 3 out of ASWH's 6 league games. Jeroen Drost (born 21 January 1987 in Kampen) is a Dutch retired professional footballer, who played as a left back. Club career Drost began his career with DOS Kampen and later joined the youth of Go Ahead Eagles from Deventer. He played some years with the youth from Go Ahead Eagles before being scouted in 2001 by SC Heerenveen. After three years in the youth academy of SC Heerenveen, he was promoted to the first team in 2004. Drost moved on loan to N.E.C. in January 2008. After a half year and five league matches with NEC, he returned to Heerenveen, and was once again loaned out, this time to Vitesse in July 2008. Robert Drost is an American computer scientist. He was born in 1970 in New York City. Life Drost joined Sun Microsystems in 1993 after obtaining a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. In 2001 he earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. minor in Computer Science from Stanford. As of 2011 he is a holder of over 95 patents in microelectronics. Johannes Drost
Johannes Drost (22 June 1880 – 18 September 1954) was a Dutch backstroke swimmer and diver who competed in the 1900 Summer Olympics. He won the bronze medal in the 200 m backstroke event in a time of 3:01.0, narrowly beating compatriot Johannes Bloemen. This was the first swimming medal and the first individual Olympic medal ever for the Netherlands. Drost also competed at other international competitions. Rudolf Karl Theodor Drost (19 August 1892, Oldenburg - 3 December 1971, Wilhelmshaven) was a German ornithologist best known for his studies on bird migration conducted at the Heligoland observatory. Drost was the only child of Dr Karl Drost and Clara née Fetköter. He studied at the Mariengymnasium and later at the University of Tübingen and later at Göttingen. His education was interrupted by the war and he was wounded during service. He received a Doctoral degree in 1923 for studying crustaceans and was appointed in the Prussian Biological Station on Heligoland where he continued the work of Hugo Weigold.
