Diocese Of Ribe
The Diocese of Ribe (Danish: ''Ribe Stift'') is a diocese within the Church of Denmark. Ribe Cathedral serves as the central cathedral within the diocese. Since 2014, the bishop has been Elof Westergaard. The former Roman Catholic Diocese of Ribe was formed in 948 and oversaw much of southern Jutland. During the Protestant Reformation, the diocese converted to Lutheranism alongside the formation of the Church of Denmark. Thus, the diocese in its current form was established in 1536. As of 2020, the diocese oversees 219 individual churches in 200 sogns, which are divided among 8 deaneries. The diocese covers a region with a population of 355,839, of which 295,860 are members of the church. Gyldendal
Gyldendalske Boghandel, Nordisk Forlag A/S, usually referred to simply as Gyldendal () is a Danish publishing house. Founded in 1770 by Søren Gyldendal, it is the oldest and largest publishing house in Denmark, offering a wide selection of books including fiction, non-fiction and dictionaries. Prior to 1925, it was also the leading publishing house in Norway, and it published all of Henrik Ibsen's works. Hans Adolph Brorson
Hans Adolph Brorson (20 June 1694 – 3 June 1764) was a Danish pietist clergyman, hymn write and translator of German language hymns. He served as Bishop of the Diocese of Ribe. Biography Brorson was born at the vicarage at Randerup in Tønder municipality, Denmark. He belonged to a clerical family: his father Broder Brodersen was a parish priest in Randerup, both of this brothers were vicars. In 1712 he graduated from Ribe Cathedral School. From 1712 to 1716 Brorson studied theology at the University of Copenhagen. Brorson was appointed rector of Holstebro in 1721. In 1729, he became deacon in Tønder. In 1737, Broder was called to be Bishop at Aalborg. In 1741 he became Bishop of the Diocese of Ribe where he remained the rest of his life. He died during 1764 and was buried in Ribe Cathedral. Christen Jensen Lodberg (31 October 1625 - 12 June 1693) was a Danish bishop. Born in Todbøl, Lodbjerg Parish, his father, Jens Christensen, was a farmer. In his eleventh year he went to the small grammar school in Thisted, and then to Viborg, from Viborg perhaps to Odense and finally to Roskilde school, from which he graduated in 1647. During his studies, he returned to the farm to help out. After completing his theological studies and accumulating some money, he traveled abroad in 1652, partly helped by a scholarship. Beset by lack of funds, he may have enlisted as a soldier on his travels, first in Naples, where he is said to have become acquainted with a Spanish general, under whom he served one and a half years in the Spanish guard.
