D-tour 1997 Live At Southampton
''d:tour 1997 Live at Southampton'', or simply ''d:tour'', is a live album by the English band Delirious?. History The album was released in 1998 and was the second live offering from Delirious? after '' Live & In the Can'', which was released a few years prior. It was recorded on a leg of the band's legendary first full UK tour, at the Southampton Guildhall venue. Originally ''d:tour 1997 Live @ Southampton'' on first publication, the title was later shortened to ''d:tour 1997 Live'' on reprints. It is now known simply as ''d:tour'' in fan circles. As with ''Live and in the Can'', special packaging was produced for the album, this time in the form of a cardboard slip case with internal artwork. The tour featured the songs of the band's first full studio album, '' King of Fools'', several of which are featured here. For the majority of their career, the lineup featured Martin Smith on vocals and guitar, Stu G (full name Stuart Garrard) on guitar and backing vocals, Jon Thatcher on bass guitar, Tim Jupp on keys and piano, and Stew Smith on drums and percussion. Theremin
The theremin (; originally known as the ætherphone/etherphone, thereminophone or termenvox/thereminvox) is an electronic musical instrument controlled without physical contact by the performer (who is known as a thereminist). It is named after its inventor, Leon Theremin, who patented the device in 1928. Stuart David Garrard (born 6 July 1963) better known by the stage name Stu G, is an English vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter. He is one third of US-based Christian contemporary music band One Sonic Society, and is writing and recording as a solo artist. He served as the lead guitarist, backing vocalist, and secondary songwriter for the rock band Delirious? from 1994 until 2009. His song writing credits for the band include "Come Like You Promise", "Metamorphis", and "Pursuit of Happiness". His most famous work is probably "Majesty (Here I Am)" (written with Delirious? lead singer Martin Smith). Stu G has also produced his own solo material, and released his first album in 1995. He is also a member of the songwriter's charity CompassionArt. "Deeper" is the second single from Delirious?'s debut album, '' King of Fools'', on which it is the second track. It is one of the band's most famous songs and, along with "History Maker", almost universally represented ''King of Fools'' in live set lists until 2005. "History Maker" is the eleventh track on English Christian rock band Delirious?'s album '' King of Fools''. It has become one of the band's best-known songs, and represents ''King of Fools'' in almost every one of their live setlists, along with the single "Deeper". "History Maker" was originally recorded as a guitar-driven six-minute rock epic, filled out by strings and synthesisers and featuring two 16-bar guitar solos. The lyrics of the song are on the power of prayer and becoming a "history maker"; i.e., someone who changes the course of history. "History Maker" became the theme song for Teen Mania's 97-98 Acquire the Fire tour, as well as Extreme Dream's YC 2000 in Alberta, Canada. "Promise" is the third single from Delirious?'s debut album, '' King Of Fools'', on which it is the sixth track. It was released as a single on 14 July 1997 and reached number 20 on the UK Singles Charts. The song also appears on the band's live album, '' d:tour 1997 Live at Southampton''. Music video The music video shows the band playing in a darkened room with light bulbs flicking on and off. The video is intercut with various different people falling down and one person, a young Jordan Chaos, from the metal band A New Way To Trust, falling off his bike. Martin James Smith (born 6 July 1970) is an English vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, and producer. Smith was the front man of the Christian rock and worship band Delirious?. When Delirious? disbanded in 2009, Smith became a solo artist. Career Before becoming a full-time musician, Smith was a sound engineer at ICC studios in Eastbourne. Along with Stewart Smith (no relation) and Tim Jupp, Smith formed The Cutting Edge in 1992. In 1995, Smith and his wife were involved in a near-fatal car accident, and during the weeks of his recovery, he decided to become a professional musician. This inspired him to write the song "August 30". In 1996, the band, now known as Delirious?, became a full-time endeavour.
