Cleopatrick
Cleopatrick (stylized in lowercase) is a Canadian rock duo based out of Cobourg, Ontario. They have their own record label, called Nowhere Special Recordings. Background Childhood friends Ian Fraser and Luke Gruntz grew up in Cobourg, Ontario had been friends since age 4 and began getting interested in music around age 8 when they first listened to AC/DC. Later in their teens they began recording their own music. Their debut EP, titled '"14"' was released on 14 February 2016, though they began to gain popularity with single "Hometown". Released in 2017, it peaked at No. 6 on the US Mainstream Rock Charts. It was taken from their second EP, "The Boys", which was released on 29 June 2018. Bummer (album)
''Bummer'' (stylised in uppercase) is the debut studio album by Canadian rock duo Cleopatrick. It was released on 4 June 2021 via Nowhere Special Recordings. Release The first single "Good Grief" was released on 11 December 2020, alongside its accompanying music video. Gruntz said the song "marks a new era for our band". This was followed by second single "The Drake" on 11 March 2021, which Gruntz says was written about "assholes from our hometown". The third single "Family Van" was released on 20 April 2021, alongside the announcement of the album, and an online video game themed with the song. About the song, Gruntz said "I wrote Family Van after a band ripped one of our songs off. They were bigger than us and we felt powerless." An official PowerPoint Presentation was released too, before the music video on May 11. The song went onto peak at No. 32 on the US Mainstream Rock Charts, and at No. 45 in the Canadian Rock Charts. The Boys (Cleopatrick EP)
''The Boys'' (stylized as ''the boys'') is the second extended play by Canadian indie rock outfit, Cleopatrick. The EP was released on June 29, 2018 through the band's SoundCloud account. Critical reception Matthew Waters, writing for ''Xune Mag'' described the album as "devilishly talented" and praised the accessibility, and musicianship of the EP. Waters described ''The Boys'' as a "lush set of uncomplicated rock that easy to listen to and enjoy. Cleopatrick have circumvented the hard rock theme and elevated it to something truly fantastic. Intelligent lyrics accompany a gritty rock backdrop." Writing for CFML-FM, Hannah Gorton praised the energy of the album, but dismissed the idea of this band being rock revivalists. Cobourg
Cobourg ( ) is a town in the Canadian province of Ontario, located in Southern Ontario east of Toronto and east of Oshawa. It is the largest town in and seat of Northumberland County. The UK Album Downloads Chart is compiled by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on behalf of the music industry. Since July 2015, the chart week runs from Friday to Thursday, with the chart date given as the following Thursday. The chart was introduced in April 2006 to coincide with the OCC's decision to include sales of album downloads in the UK Albums Chart. The first album to top the download chart was ''This New Day'' by Embrace. The chart is published in ''Music Week'', ''UKChartsPlus'' and on the OCC's official website, with the former featuring the Top 75 downloads and the top 100 in the latter two. ''The Big Takeover'' is a bi-annual music magazine published out of New York City since May 1980 by critic Jack Rabid. History Establishment Jack Rabid and Dave Stein began publishing ''The Big Takeover'' in May 1980 as a fanzine dedicated to New York punk band the Stimulators. The pair had formed a garage band the previous month called Even Worse, originally playing mainly punk rock cover songs. Highly Suspect is an American rock band from Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The band consists of twin brothers Rich (bass, backing vocals) and Ryan Meyer (drums, backing vocals), Johnny Stevens (guitar, lead vocals), and Matt Kofos (guitar, synthesizer, backing vocals). Reading And Leeds Festivals
The Reading and Leeds Festivals are a pair of annual music festivals that take place in Reading and Leeds in England. The events take place simultaneously on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the August bank holiday weekend. The Reading Festival is held at Little John's Farm on Richfield Avenue in central Reading, near Caversham Bridge. The Leeds event is held in Bramham Park, near Wetherby, the grounds of a historic house. Headliners and most supporting acts typically play at both sites, with Reading's Friday line up becoming Leeds' Saturday line-up, Reading's Saturday line-up playing at Leeds on Sunday, and Leeds' Friday line-up attending Reading on Sunday. Campsites are available at both sites and weekend tickets include camping. Day tickets are also sold.
