Burgh
A burgh is an autonomous municipal corporation in Scotland and Northern England, usually a city, town, or toun in Scots. This type of administrative division existed from the 12th century, when King David I created the first royal burghs. Burgh status was broadly analogous to borough status, found in the rest of the United Kingdom. Following local government reorganisation in 1975, the title of "royal burgh" remains in use in many towns, but now has little more than ceremonial value. History The first burgh was Berwick. By 1130, David I (r. 1124–53) had established other burghs including Edinburgh, Stirling, Dunfermline, Haddington, Perth, Dumfries, Jedburgh, Montrose and Lanark. Most of the burghs granted charters in his reign probably already existed as settlements. Burgs (fast-food Chain)
Burgs is an Indian fast food chain that mainly serves gourmet burgers including chicken, lamb, fish, prawn, beef and pork, as well as veggie burgers. It also serves ice cream shakes, iced tea, Orangina, B'lue and soft drinks. It is owned by Mumbai-based Sanjay Kilachand. The first Burgs outlet opened on Waterfield Road, Bandra, Mumbai on 22 March 2012. The decor in Burgs's outlets features plastic chairs, tables, bright lighting and colours. Burg, Aargau
Burg is a municipality in the district of Kulm in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland. History Unter-Rinach Castle, which the village name references, was probably built in the 12th Century. It was the family seat of the lords of Rinach, who were vassals of the Habsburgs. The castle was destroyed in the Battle of Sempach by the Swiss and was never rebuilt. The first reference to Burg was in 1412 when two farms that were "by the castle" (german: Burg) were mentioned. As early as 1400, the '' Zwing und Bann'' or manor rights were divided evenly between the Teutonic Order and the family of the Schultheiss of Lenzburg. From 1415 until 1798 the village was under the authority of the city of Bern. It was part of the ''Oberamt'' or district of Lenzburg, and the court of Reinach. Burg (also known as Burg bei Magdeburg to distinguish from other places with the same name) is a town of about 22,400 inhabitants on the Elbe–Havel Canal in northeastern Germany, northeast of Magdeburg. Den Burg is a town in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Texel on the island of the same name, and lies about 12 km north of Den Helder. Overview Located in the middle of the island, Den Burg is the largest town of Texel. It features a historic centre and also the town hall. Outdoor markets are held each week in the main square. Nevertheless, Den Burg is the island's least tourist settlement. The town was first mentioned between 918 and 948 as Osterburghem, and means "castle" which refers to a castle built to defend against the Vikings.
