beIN Sports Turkey is a Turkish network of sports channels owned by beIN Media Group and operated by Digiturk. It is the Turkish version of the global sports network beIN Sports. History In 2000, it was purchased by Mehmet Emin Karamehmet under the name Işık TV for the Digiturk platform. In 2001, its name was changed to Lig TV by Mehmet Emin Karamehmet and Şansal Büyüka. In 2017, the name was changed again to beIN Sports by beIN Media Group. It is Turkey's first and only foreign-owned sports channel, holding the broadcasting rights of Süper Lig matches since the beginning of 2001 and broadcasting on the Digiturk digital platform. beIN Sports France is a French network of sports channels owned by Qatari Sports Investments (an affiliate of beIN Media Group) and operated by Mediapro. It is the French version of the global sports network beIN Sports. History In 2011, Al Jazeera Sport acquired the rights of broadcasting some of the French football league matches inside France and full marketing rights for the French league outside France. Monday, 5 December 2011 UEFA announced on its website that Al Jazeera Sport awarded media rights in France for UEFA Champions League 2012–15. According to the UEFA website, each season Al Jazeera Sport will broadcast 133 matches live across its television channels, internet and mobile services. The TFF 1. Lig, officially known as Spor Toto 1. Lig for sponsorship reasons, is the second level of the Turkish football league system. The league was founded in 2001 as the ''Turkish Second League Category A'' after the reorganization of the Second Football League, which was the second level of the Turkish league system between 1963 and 2001. Digiturk is a Turkish satellite television provider founded in 1999, with services starting in mid-2000. They provide both national television channels and their own channels, national radio, and music streams of different genres.
