''Oenocarpus bacaba'' is an economically important monoecious fruiting palm native to South America and the Amazon Rainforest, which has edible fruits. This plant is cited in Flora Brasiliensis by Carl Friedrich Philipp von Martius. It can reach up to 20–25 metres tall and 15–25 cm in diameter. ''Oenocarpus'' is a genus of pinnate-leaved palms (Arecaceae) native to Trinidad, southern Central and tropical South America.
