Ariana (name)
Ariana is a feminine given name, popular in many languages. Arianna and Ariane are the two most common variations. Etymology The name ''Ariana'' may be used following several possible following origins. The name Arianna is the Latinized form of the Ancient greek name Ariadne ( el, Ἀριάδνη; la, Ariadna; "most holy", Cretan Greek ''αρι'' [ari] "most" and ''αδνος'' [adnos] "holy"), the daughter of Minos, King of Crete, and his queen Pasiphaë, daughter of Helios, the Sun-titan, from Greek mythology. Ariana, a term in classical history, from Latin ''Arianus'', ''Ariana'', from Greek ''Arianē'', ''Areianē'', names applied in classical times to the eastern part of ancient Iran and to its inhabitants. Ancient Iranians used the name in reference to themselves (Old Persian ''ariya-''), hence Iran. Ultimately from Sanskrit ''arya-'' "compatriot;" in later language "noble, of good family.", was a general geography, geographical term used by some Greeks, Greek and Ancient ...

Ariane (rocket Family)
Ariane is a series of European civilian expendable launch vehicles for space launch use. The name comes from the French spelling of the mythological character Ariadne. France first proposed the Ariane project and it was officially agreed upon at the end of 1973 after discussions between France, Germany and the UK. The project was Western Europe's second attempt to develop its own launcher following the unsuccessful Europa project. The Ariane project was code-named L3S (the French abbreviation for third-generation substitution launcher). The European Space Agency (ESA) charged Airbus Defence and Space with the development of all Ariane launchers and of the testing facilities, while Arianespace, a 32.5% CNES (French government space agency) commercial subsidiary created in 1980, handles production, operations and marketing. Arianespace launches Ariane rockets from the Guiana Space Centre at Kourou in French Guiana. Ariane versions Ariane 1 was a three-stage launcher, derived f ...

Built in 1975, it belongs to the 2nd generation of skyscrapers in La Défense. The tower is 152 m (499 ft) tall and has 36 floors. Ariane (Martinů)
''Ariane'' is a one-act opera by Bohuslav Martinů to a French libretto by the composer drawn from the second, third and fourth acts of the 1943 play by Georges Neveux, ''Le Voyage de Thésée'', (who had supplied the text to the composer's earlier opera ''Julietta'').Smaczny, Jan. Ariane. In: ''The New Grove Dictionary of Opera''. Macmillan, London and New York, 1997. Performance history Martinů composed ''Ariane'' in 1958 whilst working on his final opera, ''The Greek Passion'' – he described it in a letter to his family as 'taking a rest' from the larger work. The composition took just over a month. The bravura style of the writing for Ariadne reflects Martinů's admiration of Maria Callas. The opera is in a straightforward lyrical style with deliberate references to the operas of Monteverdi and other early composers. Grove describes the music as being in a "warm, mainly tonal lyricism", at times "enlivened by neo-Baroque rhythmic patterns". The first performance took place ...

Simca Ariane
The Simca Ariane is a large saloon car launched in April 1957 by the French automaker Simca and manufactured in the company's factory at Poissy until 1963. Origins The plant at Poissy had been built by Ford France between 1937 and 1940, but after the war the economic direction of France was uncertain. Ford had equipped the plant to produce the V8 engined Ford Vedette but the government was imposing punitive levels of car tax on cars with large engines and sales fell well short of expectations. In addition, the Poissy plant experienced above average levels of industrial unrest. Simca purchased the plant from Ford in 1954, together with rights to build the latest version of the car produced in it, which now became the Simca Vedette, relaunched by Simca with different model names according to equipment levels. The Simca Vedette competed in France's large car market at a time when the economy was finally returning to growth, and enjoyed moderate success with their fashionably Amer ...
