Areekode is a town on the banks of the Chaliyar River in Areekode Grama Panchayat in Malappuram district India. Areekode was part of the Malabar district in British India. It is a town on the banks of Chaliyar River with an area of 7.25 square miles, Areekode is one of the highly literate areas in the state of Kerala. Situated in the Northern part of Malappuram district, it is encircled by hills and hillocks capped in green. The Areekode region includes Urangatiri, Kizhuparamba, Kavanoor and Areekode panchayats It is 17 km from Manjeri, 27 km from Malappuram, and 35 km from Calicut town. Chaliyar
Chaliyar River is the fourth longest river in Kerala at 169 km in length. The Chaliyar is also known as Chulika River, Nilambur River or Beypore River as it nears the sea. Pothukal, Chungathara, Nilambur, Mampad, Edavanna, Kavanoor, Perakamanna, Areekode, Kizhuparamba, Elamaram, Cheekkode, Vazhakkad, Vazhayur, Cheruvadi, Edavannappara, Mavoor, Peruvayal, Feroke and Beypore are some of the towns/villages situated along the banks of Chaliyar. Eranad (State Assembly Constituency)
Eranad also known as Ernad refers to the erstwhile province in the midland area of Malabar, consisting of Malappuram and nearby regions such as Anakkayam, Manjeri, Kondotty, Nilambur, etc. Currently Eranad Taluk is a Taluk in Malappuram district. Eranad was ruled by a Samanthan Nair clan known as Eradis, similar to the Vellodis of neighbouring Valluvanad and Nedungadis of Nedunganad. Kondotty
Kondotty is a developing town, municipality, and aerotropolis in the Malappuram district state of Kerala, India which is located near Calicut International Airport, 24 km from Malappuram. It is the headquarters of Kondotty Taluk, which was declared as the seventh taluk in Malappuram district by chief minister Oommen Chandy on 23 December 2013. Nediyiruppu region of Kondotty municipality was the original headquarters of the powerful dynasty of the Zamorins of Calicut (''Eradi'' dynasty), who were actually the rulers of Eranad. Calicut Railway Station
Kozhikode railway station also known as Calicut railway station is one of the largest railway stations in the state of Kerala, India. At in financial year 2018–19, it is the largest in terms of passenger revenue in Palakkad division. The station has four platforms, two terminals and a total number of six tracks.
