İdil Naz Kanbur
İdil ( syr, ܐܙܟ, Azakh, or ''Beth Zabday'', ku, Hezex, ar, آزخ, Azekh) is a city and district in Şırnak Province in southeastern Turkey. It is located in the historical region of Tur Abdin. In the city, there is a Syriac Orthodox Church of the Mother of God ( ar, كنيسة العذراء, tr, Meryem Ana Kilisesi). History Azakh (today called İdil) is identified as the town of Ashikhu, or Asiḫu, which is earliest attested in an administrative note from the governor's archive at Tell Halaf, during the reign of Adad-nirari III, King of Assyria, in the late 9th and early 8th century BC. Azakh was later conflated with the neighbouring city of Bezabde, and led to its alternative Syriac name Beth Zabday. Ottoman Empire Mohammed Paşa, Emir of Rowanduz, took advantage of the disruption caused to the Ottoman Empire by the Egyptian invasion of Syria in 1831–1832 to expand his realm, and besieged Azakh in 1834. Bohtan
Bohtan (also Buhtan, ''Bokhti'') was a medieval Kurdish principality in the Ottoman Empire centered on the town of Jazirah ibn 'Omar (modern Cizre also known as ''Cizîra Botan'' (''Jazira Botan'') in southeastern Anatolia. Bohtanis were an ancient and prominent branch of the Kurds that claimed descent from the Islamic General and Sahaba Khalid ibn al-Walid. The official religion of this principality was Yezidism in 14th century, although the rulers eventually converted to Islam, Bohtan still constituted the third major Yezidi enclave after Shekhan and Sinjar until 19th century. Iraq Levies
The Assyrian Levies (also known as the Iraq Levies) were the first Iraqi military force established by the British in British controlled Iraq. The Iraq Levies originated in a local Arab armed scout force raised during the First World War. After Iraq became a British Mandate, the force became composed mostly of Assyrians, Kurds and Iraqi Turkmen who lived in the north of the country, while the nascent Iraqi Army was recruited first from the Arabs who had joined the Iraqi Levies and later from the general Arab population (Beth-Kamala). Eventually the Levies enlisted mainly Assyrian soldiers with British officers. The unit initially defended the northern frontiers of the Province of Mosul when Turkey claimed the province and massed its army across the frontiers. Cizre

Bucak (administrative Unit)
Bucak (also known as nahiye) is the Turkish word for subdistrict, literally meaning "corner." In principle, all Turkish provinces ( tr, il) are divided into districts ( tr, ilçe), and the districts were then divided into bucaks. Thus, bucak was the third-level administrative unit in Turkey. Despite this designation, about half the districts had no bucaks. For example, in Konya Province (the province with the highest number of settlements), among the 31 districts, only 15 districts had bucaks, and the total number of bucaks was 23. However, there was only one bucak in Yalova Province. The total number of bucaks in Turkey was 634. Villages ( tr, köy) are parts of the districts or bucaks. Bucaks were important part of the Turkish administrative system prior to 1970, but since transportation facilities to villages were improved, the importance of bucaks declined. Max Erwin Von Scheubner-Richter
Ludwig Maximilian Erwin von Scheubner-Richter ( Lettish: ''Ludvigs Rihters'') ( – 9 November 1923) was a Baltic German political activist and an influential early member of the Nazi Party. Scheubner-Richter was a Baltic German from Russia and fought against the Russian Revolution of 1905 before serving in the Imperial German Army during World War I, witnessing and producing documentation of the Armenian genocide. He was leader of the Aufbau Vereinigung and a leading ideologist of Nazism at the beginning of the Interwar period. Scheubner-Richter became a key influence and close associate of Adolf Hitler, and an activist of the Nazi Party instrumental in securing financing for its early stages. Scheubner-Richter was killed during the Beer Hall Putsch in November 1923 and part of Hitler's ''Mein Kampf'' was dedicated to him. Midyat Rebellion
The village of Azakh ( syr, ܐܙܟ, Azakh) was one of the few remaining pockets of resistance during the Assyrian genocide that the Ottoman authorities called the "Midyat Rebellion" named after Midyat, the largest Assyrian town in Tur Abdin. Background At the start of the 20th century, the Assyrian village of Azakh had a population of only 1000, and was inhabited by Syriac Orthodox and Syriac Catholic Christians. The mayor of the village was Hanna Makdisi Amno. The conflict began as Kurdish tribes and other local Muslim militias began to raid and destroy small Assyrian villages throughout Tur Abdin throughout the summer of 1915.
